Chaos10691 Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 With TW having them on sale I considered grabbing it as my all around MH rod. I use 1/4 oz t-rigs, 3/8 oz pitching jigs, 1/2 oz finesse football jigs, and the occasional chatter, spinner, and underspin. Reading TW they claim it has a fast action but Shimano's site says its actually a Mod Fast. I'm inclined to believe Shimano's site due to finding my own discrepancies other site's have had in the past. That being said watching PunchFishing's channel he seems to think its definitely a true fast action. The mod-fast worries me dealing with sing hook application but I figured the best advice to get would be from people who have used them. Thank you for any input. Quote
T2DM Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I have one and it feels between fast and mod fast IMHO. either way you can't go wrong with the Expride for its versatility. 1/2 oz is the sweet spot for me. 1 Quote

So you’d recommend that model for bottom contact? Quote
lynxcat Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I have the 7’6 MH mod fast and it’s like a soft fast but not a full moderate so accurately described. I have not tried bottom contact with it yet. I’ve done swim jigs and chatterbaits effectively so far. 1 Quote

Super User NorthernBasser Posted December 15, 2022 Super User Posted December 15, 2022 Not sure if you're getting the A and B mixed up. The 7'2 MH Expride A is labeled fast action. The 7'2 MH Glass is labeled moderate. The 7'2 MH Expride B is labeled Mod-Fast on TW. But on Shimano website it says fast. Either way, I have 2 of the 7'2 MH/F Expride A's, and they're great rods. Can do everything you listed and then some. 3 1 Quote

I was asking specifically about the A models since they’re on sale. Quote

That's news to me. I've always seen it labeled as fast action...which I think it definitely is. I'll have to look at my rods and see what it says on the blank. It's definitely not faster than fast tho. Definitely not XF. Which makes it great for many applications. 1 Quote

Very versatile and can do everything single hook rather well. 1/2 oz is the sweet spot but I’ve abused that rod with a 3/4oz swim jig and 4.5” paddle tail that certainly weighs over 1.25oz and caught bigguns. Mod/fast on a somewhat stiff blank seems like an accurate description to me. I’m a big fan. scott 5 Quote

Would you feel comfortable throwing what I listed at the top with it? 1 Quote
padon Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 the 76 is a more moderate blank which i like because i use it for 3/4 football jigs carolina rigs etc. the more moderate tip helps keep fish pinned when they jump and shake those heavy weights. I have 2 of the 72 medium heavys. thats because they are a great all around rods. seem like fast actions to me i use mine for worms, jigs , soft swimbaits, spinnerbait etc. my go to rods for general bass fishing. 1 Quote

It's light, balanced, and powerful with above average sensitivity and is a blast to fish. At TW's $189 it's well worth it imho. There's a lake that I visit family at and can rarely squeeze a lot of gear in the car with me. I usually bring a Conquest 904c and the expride a 7'6MH. To me they fish very similarly and I have no problem switching between the two, 904 for the heavier and the MH for the lighter. The only problem with buying an expride for me was that I ended up buying 4 more. scott 1 1 Quote

rmcguirk Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I'll echo what's been said already. I've got a 7'2" MH Expride A and it is a great all-around rod. I use it primarily for bottom-contact baits and it is very sensitive. That TW deal is awesome and, if I were in the market, I'd definitely be a buyer. 1 Quote

5by3 Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I have two 7’2 MH Expride A, and three 7’6 MH. The 7’6 rod is my favorite rod that I own. Like others have said, it’s on the slower side of fast, but definitely not a moderate fast action. I use it for football jigs and light flipping. The 7’2 MH is super versatile. To me it feels slightly stiffer than the 7’6 rod. I use it for pitching docks, light cover, worms, spinnerbaits, etc. 2 Quote

I typically prefer close to 7’ just to allow more broad usage. Quote
Derek1 Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 On stock and on sale. That’s too much to handle. This rod is like a ghost when I’m looking for a new rod. p.s. there down to 5+ in stock. 1 Quote

So 5+ could mean 5, it could mean 30. Quote
