I just got a 798 ci si and I am having some trouble installing it.  The transducer installation looks pretty easy, but I am trying to be careful about putting the power cable on my fuse box.  I do know how to wire direct to a battery but I don't want all the wires hanging out and going to my battery compartment.  does anyone have a diagram or a list of steps on how they installed their si unit?  Mine will be at the console.

Do yourself a favor and wire it directly to your battery. All you need to do is extend the two power cord conductors with size 18 guage wires of the same colors and connect the red wire to the positive of the battery and the black wire to the negative of the battery. Also put a spade 3A fuse on the red wire at the battery connection. You can get that fuse and a covered holder at Radio Shack along with the two wires.

You will be glad you did. That will eliminate doing it later when you find out your boat wiring harness is not as electrically sound as you need.

"Been there, done that" and so have many others.
