Sometimes the fish want that fast fall a heavy weight provides. Assuming the lightest weight and what you believe to be the most natural rate of fall will always work the best is a mistake. Assuming a TX rig should always be fished as slow as possible is also a mistake. Sometimes those things work the best, sometimes the opposite is true. There are no rules.

yes i agree. sorry i probably didnt get my point across well. im bad with words, always have been. i usually find when fish prefer that fast fall rate, they are usually pretty active and IMO when theyre active, dialing in the details of what color, weight, presentation, etc becomes less important. When i responded i was responding with the thought in mind that the fish are being finicky or lethargic which is how fishing has been for me lately. Thanks for the response!

Not always ?

Think about punching, when that ounce/ounce-n-half weight crashes through the mat it's a total reaction strike.

Many anglers myself included will say during cold water periods slow down by going with lighter weights. Down here flipping-n-pitching a 3/4 oz jig during winter months & in shallow water can be extremely deadly.

Exactly Right!

I don’t use a spinning anything.
I just don’t feel it gives me any advantage regardless of what I’m throwing or the weight I’m using and that includes any weightless presentation.

Don’t limit yourself to only one way of thinking.
Do what’s best for You
