What lure do you keep a secret???

I realize the question is a contradiction...however I'm wondering if anyone will share the lure they keep on the down low. Is there a specific lure and/or color you don't talk much about because u don't want anyone else throwing it in your honey hole?

No secrets, but a bait I don't generally recommend is the Megabass Deep Sleeper.

Although the Sleeper is a great producer for me, it loves rocks and trees contrary

to the marketing hype. In a boat with a good lure retriever you might get an hour

out of the bait, but don't throw it from the bank!

I can't tell you....it's a secret.

Honestly, I don't keep secrets.  There's a bunch of people who catch more and bigger bass than I do but I'll share anything with anyone.   People have shared all kinds of stuff with me over the years that have helped me greatly.  (not just fishing stuff but all aspects of life).

I don't even have any secret locations.  My pictures are geo cached.  (if that comes through when I upload them here)

A few months ago a co worker/friend was fishing at the same lake I was at.  We kept texting him fish pictures, but they weren't catching any.   I sent him a location on the map where I always catch bass.  Myself and Mrs B spot locked on the location but didn't fish.  When he got there we moved 50 yards away and watched him and his neighbor catch several nice bass.

I understand people keeping fishing secrets, especially tournament people.  That's one of the reason I won't fish tournaments.

Added:  I have a secret lure configuration I'm going to use today.   IF I catch any bass with it I'll tell what it is.  If I don't catch any I won't.  That will keep y'all from laughing if it doesn't work.

I share info on baits and techniques all the time. 1. I'm gonna catch mine whether they're throwing it or not.  2. Sometimes sharing info gets you quality info in return.

I don’t have any secret baits, but when talking to people at the launch, I tend to keep it somewhat vague. “Soft plastics” or “moving baits” is what I generally reply when asked what I was catching them on. I don’t think it helps anyone if you have 15 dudes all throwing a T-rigged structure bug with a 5/16oz bullet at the same exact stump because Jar11591 told em. I generally don’t ask what people are using either, because if they’re biting I’m gonna catch ‘em regardless. Locations are what I’m a little more tight lipped about. There are several isolated humps, logs, drop offs and boulders that I’ve found to be productive through years or fishing, only visible on sonar. These spots I’d like for people to continue to ignore. But it’s public water, so even “secrets” aren’t exactly secret.

Over the years I can openly admit that when it comes to 'baits' & even 'techniques',

I've gotten as much or more, than I've shared.

And while much of what I offer here can be fairly specific to this end of the country,

some of it can probably apply to different deals as well.

So as for 'secret' bait's, I don't really have any, but there are a few deals that,

let's say may not be that well advertised.

Most all of that centers around specific locations.

Some of my more recent shares look like this . . .

I’ve found that it is very hard to “catch the other guy’s fish” so it doesn’t matter what I tell people.  What works many times is just for the moment anyway.  For example, yesterday I was fishing in the back of a friend’s boat and getting waxed.  We were both throwing TRDs.  So I started changing colors.  The 6th color (Alabama craw) got me 7 to his one in less than an hour.  It has never worked in that area before and may not again.  I’ll not only tell you I will give you some if you want them.

How would you rate the hook sets with it?  And what size do you prefer.  (The secret is coming out!) thanks,

No secrets for me. I fish alone most of the time, so a "secret" bait doesn't exist.               I've also shared what's working for me with other guys many times. And, they have done likewise.

I had a secret technique until last year when I found out lots of people do it . I  let a swimbait sink to the bottom on structure such as points . Lift it up  while keeping a tight line, allow it to pendulum back . This sometimes works on suspended fish  .

I never talked about Ned rigs for a few years but there is no point anymore.  I've got a couple other baits I might start talking about in the future but I'm not ready to yet.  I'm always looking for the next Ned rig, Senko, Chattebait, ect and hope to get a couple seasons out of it before it blows up.

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. ?

Nah - I share info with anyone that asks.

The Ned rig isn’t a secret here or anywhere else lol. I don’t keep secrets from people in my boat while bass fishing. My dad is my regular fishing buddy. I do take other people from time to time and I want them to have fun and the best experience they can with me. Most aren’t diehards just someone that wants to go out once twice a year. I’ll give them my whole play book. Musky fishing was a whole different story. I would put the baits away before I ever got back to the ramp. Even if I caught one I still would tell everyone I didn’t.

I have two that I don’t talk about one is out of production and the other is limited production. Both fill a niche that has been taken over by a few newer lures that are more popular. But sometimes the fish see those too much and just want another profile. That’s where these oldies come into the picture.

I’m like a lot of others in that I’m happy to share info at the ramp.  Helping one guy at the ramp isn’t going to hurt a lake, even the small ones that I fish under 100 acres. I might be more general like topwater, pitching plastics, etc, but I’ll offer more if asked.

This is exactly how I treat it when I’m walleye or panfishing. If you disclose your success to anyone, there will be 40 people there in 2 days and I can assure you they aren’t there to catch and release. Meat hunting vultures is what they are.

I thought about this for a long time and I’ve decided to let y’all in on one of my biggest secrets. This lure is incredibly productive for me and virtually snagproof.

Is everyone ready?

It is… the spinnerbait

Not a secret any more, other than using them how Ned instructed ? which no one seems to do these days.

No secrets here.

I've ran into other fisherman out on the water who were fishing my home lakes for the first time.

I always give them the low down on what bait has been productive.

Infact, just last year I gave 2 fisherman a pack of Robo worms and rigged them up for drop-shot.

My secret bait when I was younger was the gene larew 8" hooktail worm in tomato red.  Larew ruined that worm when they started injection molding instead of hand pouring.  Then it was the charlie brewers slider worm.  My boater gave me one in a post spawn tournament on lake of the ozarks.  He took 1st....I was 2nd.  This was like '92... word of mouth and bassmaster/bassin' magazine were all we had.

3/16 Siebertoutdoors.com Zenith shakey head tipped with a Zoom 4" Dead Ringer.

I don't know that it's a secret other than I don't see anyone throwing one.
