Super User DitchPanda Posted December 8, 2022 Super User Posted December 8, 2022 So I have the typical plastics for crappies...tubes,grubs, straight tail shad baits...but I'm looking for some options on small paddle tail swim baits. Any favorites? Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted December 8, 2022 Super User Posted December 8, 2022 Storm Wild Eye 2" Though when Tsunami was closing out SS2 size, snagged quite a few glows. 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted December 8, 2022 Super User Posted December 8, 2022 bobby Garland baby shad swimmerz. 2.25" Its a small paddle on the tail, but it puts a little big of wiggle into them. I use these and little mini flukes of about 2" in the spring on a 1/16 or 1/32 jig head when the crappie come up in one of the canals nearby. Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted December 8, 2022 Super User Posted December 8, 2022 Charlie Brewer Crappie Slider is a popular one around here 6 Quote
Dreveal Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 The Mule fishing Donkey Tail has been a great little bait for me in the last year or so. Really durable. Quote

They are also good largemouth baits in early spring when they first come up to the shallows and then again after the fry have hatched. I don't know that I've ever sight fished a largemouth in a pond that wouldn't eat one of these that was slowly falling past its nose. Quote

If I wanna get a little more fancy, keitech 2” easy shiner or 2.4” megabass dark sleeper. 1 Quote
DanielG Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 When I take off here at the lake I'm on, there's a particular length of water that's just crappie. I put on some of those Berkley swim shad paddle baits. The $5 a bag at Walmart. White or dark depending on cloud cover. Get's 'em every time. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 9, 2022 Global Moderator Posted December 9, 2022 Zman Slim SwimZ, either the 2.5" or 3". Rig one bait and never have to rig another unless you lose it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Slim_Swimz_Swimbait_/descpage-ZMANSLM.html Quote
Buzzbaiter Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Late reply, but I just bought a couple packs of Keitech easy shiner in the 2in version. Haven’t tried them yet, but they look soooo good. Smallmouth magic looks just like an emerald shiner. I’m confident they’ll smash crappie and perch 1 Quote

And anything else that's 1 1/2"- 2 1/2", catching crappie is about finding crappie (imagine that). Pick out any 3 or so, find the fish, and rotate them out when they start slowing down on any particular one. 1 Quote
