Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 7, 2022 Super User Posted December 7, 2022 my Brother adopted Brady. a GSD. he was so fearful in the beginning. i couldnt pet Brady for about 2 years. he would just stare at me just out of reach. he would offer the occasional "you looking at me?" growl. My brother took it slow. just put down food and water for a year before Brady was pettable. he would however play with the other two adopted dogs. My brother plucked Brady literally on the way to the euthanasia... (8 years have elaspsed) now Brady is brave, and confident like a proper German Shepard. handsome. i like him. i like him a lot. the last few nights something happened. my brother found him with his face/jaw swollen. the Vet is dumbstruck. the bump is huge, but no puss. heavy antiboitics are doing nothing. blood tests show an infection. Brady is back at the vet today. not sure why they didnt keep him overnight. he is too weak to even try to bite them when they moved him painfully into the back of a truck. i am hoping the Vet has a idea how to save Brady. they shaved so much of him looking for absess and punctures. nothing. poor Brady. 4 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 7, 2022 Global Moderator Posted December 7, 2022 Not an infected tooth? I guess antibiotics would have got that snake bite or bee sting? 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted December 7, 2022 Super User Posted December 7, 2022 That’s sad, and scary. Hope they figure out what’s going on and get Brady back to normal. Quote

a1712 Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 That's horrible. You just feel helpless when these things happen. An animal can't tell you what's wrong and how they feel. Hope Brady comes through. Brian. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 7, 2022 Global Moderator Posted December 7, 2022 One of my wife’s customers dog just had a similar scenario and it turned out it was a blocked salivary gland. Unfortunately their dog didn’t make it. 1 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 7, 2022 Author Super User Posted December 7, 2022 Bad news. Brady was a good boy to the end. he didnt bite anyone despite his pain. he passed away on the table while they were trying to some emergency IV antibiotic treatment. last thoughts were a snake bite. total guess. i will miss Brady. 10 Quote

Super User Tennessee Boy Posted December 7, 2022 Super User Posted December 7, 2022 Very sorry to hear about Brady. When I was a kid my lab was bitten by a snake. At first she had this slimy drool coming out of her mouth. My mom freaked out and thought she had rabies. My dad was sure it was a snake bite and we took her to the vet. The vet said it was probably a Copperhead. He gave her anti venom and kept her for two days. When we picked her up she was very swollen all over. She looked like a miniature bull. I'm sure every snake's poison has different symptoms. Quote

Woody B Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 It really hurts to lose a pet. Remember, dogs don't die. They just run ahead to heaven and wait. 7 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 That’s a real shame, sorry to hear about this. I’ve never dealt with or heard of that sort of thing happening to a dog but I guess if you have enough pets over the years your bound to get some odd occurrences at times. Quote
