Y’all meet Oliver

We adopted him this past weekend and so far he’s doing well with the other dog. He’s a 2 year old rescue, a mix of dachshund and terrier and loves to play. We recently lost a rescue that the other dog and my wife were very attached to so I’m hoping Oliver will help with the healing. He’s already working his way into my wife’s heart.

 

And yes he’s wearing a diaper until we’re sure he’s properly house trained.

Thanks! We learned a while back to ‘keep peter in the pocket’ until house trained. Keeps the accidents to a minimum.

Great looking dog! Had a miniture dachshund and she was very sweet and smart. Afraid of nothing. Attacked possums and other critters. She worked with two of our cats and would drive wood rats out of there dens for the cats to catch. Still miss her

I'm a huge dog lover, all of them.

 

I really hate to admit this BUT when the wife and I were building our current home, we lived in her parents house while they were living in Alabama in they're seasonal home.

 

We thought what a great time to get a puppy and get it house trained before we move into our new home........we wasn't expecting that pup to have an appetite for wood trim ?

about half of all the dogs i ever had, loved to gnaw on the baseboards at the corners. they had plenty of chew toys to ignore.  next time i'll just buy some trim.  hahahaha

 

even the trim wasn't as bad as waking from a nap to find the pups had chewed an 8" hole in the middle of a wall, ripped out the insulation,  and distributed little bits of it all over the house.  these days, they're happy stealing from the bathroom trash can or digging trenches in the yard. they don't chew on trim or walls anymore.

they chewed the right boot of  a pair of work boots that i had only had 2 days.  that's how i learned that you can't buy one boot.  i wonder what folks do who are missing a leg?  are they forced to buy a shoe they don't need?
