Went to Cabela’s this evening looking to get my Lowrance, When I got there he had a huge sale on Garmin, too good of a deal to pass up. So this is what I got a Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv Fish Finder/Chartplotter Combo with GT54 Transducer. My wife said it’s my birthday gift early.

I wish Livescope was in the budget now with all the sales, but it's gonna have to wait till spring. Iceover's coming soon though, so that'll make the wait a bit easier.

Super tempting for me.  I want either live or 360 but with my helix 7 I can’t add anything to it. I love humminbird but don’t love the images on mega live compared to livescope. I don’t want two head units on the kayak. Mega 360 plus a head unit would be nice, but it’s still a head unit plus transducer. Since I’d need both I’m really tempted to get the lv34 and 93sv and have two units but $2k is more than I want to drop right now.

Been a bird guy for years. Have a Garmin on my pond hopper. If and when I get the new rig, Garmin is probably my first choice. The Garmin technology mated with the Yammie motors is fantastic. I'm intrigued by the technology.

I got the UHD 93SV for Christmas. I can’t wait until it warms up a little so I can get it in the boat and check it out.

Hook it up now, put it in simulator mode, and play around with it. Save yourself some time on the water.

This is what I did. Of course I had 5 months to wait for the ice to melt and I couldn’t wait that long to fire it up.

Congrats you’ll love it.

I knew you’d like it. I just need you to start drinking Miller Lite and you’re life will be perfect. Just follow me kid, I won’t lead you astray.

This!

I did the same thing when I upgraded from a Lowrance Hook 2-4 to a Striker 7cv. Learn the unit before you get on the water.

Congrats and happy birthday. I started with a small Lowrance on the kayak, then when I got the "big boat" (small by most standards) I put in a Garman 93SV. You're going to love it. Never came close to using it to its full potential before selling the boat, but it excelled at everything asked of it. It also saved my boat's bacon one day when it showed the bottom coming up really quickly after I missed a shallow water marker. That save alone was worth its price. Yours should be even better with the UHD (mine was previous generation).

I do drink Miller Lite just not my drink of choice.

The Garmin itself, as a graph, is no more or less impressive than the Birds. The way it ties into the Yammie technology is what impresses me. The technology is probably overkill for the bass fishing community.

If and when I get the new rig, it's going to be a difficult decision whether to Stick with Birds and Mercury or jump ship to Garmin and Yammie.

Buddy of mine just sold all of his Lowrance stuff (9" screen, active target) to switch to Garmin after seeing my Livescope setup.  One thing that really changed his mind is that he's color blind and Garmin has way more color pallet options for livescope vs. the Lowrance.

So as many, used to just use my livescope to fish, but after purchasing a 93uhd, now have 2 units on the bow, the network hub, and unloading all  my Lowrance units to hopefully put 2 of the 106 units in the console. The charts are much better,  the depth shading, water offset, ease of using, and their customer service is awesome. Had an outdated g3ultra chip  I purchased thinking it was current (2019 edition) over Christmas,  and unfortunately only have a smartphone  now, Garmin sent a new 2022 chip to me at no charge.  Overall  impressed at the units, ease of use, clarity,  and picture. We won't even talk about the price point of the echomap units compared to the other 2 major players.

I must say that so far I like my Garmin even though I only been out on the water 3 times since i got my boat, but I love what it does. Still learning about all that  I can do with it but it’s been great.

This is where I'm at, I have both Humminbird and Garmin in my boat. But until either Garmin introduces a 360 imaging product, or Humminbird's gets a Mega Live version on par with Livescope+  I remain a split household even though I'd like to simplify into one brand.

I've got a 73sv w/ GT54 I use on the Kayak for the summer, and as a livescope setup for the ice fishing season.  Works great.  Tried the livescope on the kayak but waters I fish don't really need it, and the extra space it takes up just doesn't make sense for most of my fishing.  But even the 7" screen gets the job done quite well.
