They won the Stanley Cup their first season they moved to Colorado from Quebec. However, they were not an expansion team. They simply moved from one city to another. The same occurred with the Stars. Not exactly traditional "hockey" country. The ice crews are gonna have their hands full keeping the ice in top shape in those locations the next few weeks. Ice does not hold up well in hot or humid weather. Quote

They aren’t building from the ground up so to speak. I am not sure how the NFL does it. Quote

thediscochef Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Resurrecting this dead thread to say Go Stars! Lol Even with roope hintz and Joe pavelski being basically invisible they're still rolling. Look out if they bring in Bourque or Bichsel from the black aces squad. Would probably be a shot in the arm for an already solid team. I am sad about what happened with Val Nichushkin. Of course decision-making is important but addiction doesn't really take time off. I met him in his draft year, he was such a nice kid and it's really a shame what's happened with him Quote
Fishingmickey Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I'm rooting for the Stars too Disco. My sweetie is rooting for the Panthers. Both are looking good to advance (3-1). FM 1 Quote

I've watched the Stars since I was a kid and it's been nice to see them be good for a while recently Quote
Super User gim Posted May 14, 2024 Super User Posted May 14, 2024 My bracket has the Panthers over the Stars in the final. I correctly picked every single first round winner. Right now the Canes and Oilers have work to do if my second round is to remain perfect. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted May 14, 2024 Author Posted May 14, 2024 This thread has been a thorn in my side 😂😂 the bruins need to give em hell tonight to stay in it. Quote

Aint gonna happen buddy. They blew their energy in the first round against the Leafs. The Panthers are the superior, rested squad. Quote
thediscochef Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I do think Dallas is a bit beat up after the first two series, that was a rough path. But they have such forward depth that it almost doesn't even matter - losing Roope Hintz is primarily a defensive problem because he adds a lot of speed and a strong stick. I also think it's noteworthy that they basically did those first two rounds with 5D. I think Alex Petrovic and Lian Bichsel may be the shot in the arm the defense needs. Adding a 6th D definitely kept the Avs from going 7 games on us. I hate how they've Honka'd Nils Lundqvist but at this point you need that spot to be eating some minutes and they've made that impossible for him Quote
Super User gim Posted May 20, 2024 Super User Posted May 20, 2024 Tell you what, to have both the Mavericks and Stars both playing in the conference finals is pretty impressive. The American Airlines Arena staff is gonna be busy the next couple weeks. Apparently its the first time since 2003 that a dual-purpose arena has been used for both hockey and basketball in the conference finals. Quote
PaulVE64 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Memorial Cup tournament is on right now in Saginaw MI. My hometown London Knights are looking good. 1 Quote
