The question was asked if I had any updates since the original in 1974 and got me thinking after 48 years what could be added?

The information was mostly anecdotal based on a decade of experience and using instant read thermometer to measure bass body temps when in my 20’s.

Looking back seasonal periods based on water temperatures and activity levels was a frontier at that time period. All my experience at that time was primarily in local deep rocky structure High Land So Cal reservoirs, a few trip to Mexico fishing for Northern strain LMB and a few years targeting Florida strain LMB.

This time period included the beginning of big swim baits but didn’t include off shore structure fishing or suspended bass other then recognizing their existence.

If there is an interest in updating it would be pure anecdotal observed bass behavior learned the past nearly 50 years.

If you have the time to do it Sure!!

I’m sure there are folks who’ve never seen it and some who would appreciate the update.

I'd like to hear what you'd change/add/tweak to it based on what you've learned in the proceeding 48 years.  I'd never heard of it until this thread, but have done some searching this afternoon and found the BR threads about it.  I'd love a Q&A on it also.  For instance, winter is obviously a fairly negative period overall as is mid-day.  But, fishing mid-day in winter is supposedly the better time of the day (or is it)?  Are there certain combinations/interractions that don't necessarily follow the trend?

Good question and will try to address it by further breaking down the nuances of seasonal periods as they apply to different regions and bass species.

This effort will take some time before jumping into a Q&A.

Absolutely take care of those eyes brother!

I'd love to see Tom in a long form podcast or interview.    4-5 hours of Tom's stories chasing monsters over decades of time on water.

Hey Tom

Awhile back you offered me a shot at your tackle, remember what I told you?

I don't want your tackle, I want you knowledge!

Don't feel pressured, heal up, we'll wait.

Maybe this will make it easier ?

It's supposed to rain again this weekend, but after that we should both be ready to go. The fish might be another story, but I intend to find that out for myself.

A question for you (when you're ready): do you think that when bass would not be actively feeding during those high activity periods, it might be a good time to use presentations that are better at triggering reaction strikes that are not feeding related?

Today I am home instead of fishing, no boat!?

It’s March pre spawn, it’s light drizzle, light wind and 2 days before full moon ideal conditions.

Looking over my original Cosmic Clock I can’t think of too many things to change.

1. Moon phases like today are still a big factor during the spawn cycle. I have learned the full and new moon phase is better when the moon is over head at night! During mid day moon it can be a negative factor the balance to the year.

2. Water temps are still a major factor but need to clarify at the depth the bass are acclimated in, or more specific the basses body temperature.

3. Activity levels needs some adjusting to 3 phases in lieu of 5. The very active transitioning to neutral and Inactive. Still believe inactive bass are nearly in a sleep transition.

4. LMB behavior is more individual in lieu of group activity the majority of the time, unless a group can take advantage of feeding on bait fish. Smallmouth and Spotted bass however are more group activity oriented.

Thats about it, enjoy your fishing time...it’s limited?

Can you please email me a copy, I was trying to locate info on this the other night, all I was getting was Bill Murphy and his book.

I'm getting more and more convinced that my big Bass catches have a lot to do with the moon.
