Spinnerbaits yes!

Jerkbaits yes!

Somebody should start us the ultimate spinnerbait thread for discussion of styles, weights, retrieves, colors, blade combos, skirt preferences, trailers, Jdm, vintage models, depths, cover and structure targeted, wire types and sizes, brands and makers, rods, reels, line, etc…

As for spinnerbait brands, I buy the frames and use blade combos not commercially available. I can go in behind people fishing even the best brands and pick up fish they miss. I think on some waters fish are weary of certain blade combinations. I have even swapped out some blades on my war eagles and increased the catch rate.

That said I have bought baits like the war eagle finesse and humdinger double indiana spins and done well. It seems double willow and colorado willow are very common baits the fish are seeing all the time.

I used to do well with SK bleeding bait spins, but found thinner wire War Eagles outproduced them 5 to 1. You just need to be ready to regularly bend the frame back into shape and even netting every fish helps the baits last longer. @Munkin and @smalljaw67 know a lot more than me.

Sorry for the hijack I loved spins in the past but went away from them for a while and have learned a ton in the last year or so building my own.

I bought my first spook at the end of September and had a blast catching them through about the end of October. It's so exciting watching them blow up, maybe miss, and come back for it!PXL_20221029_141209791.thumb.jpg.44200e6f7447dd9ca94e8c9867e78d24.jpg

2 techniques I rarely use, and I know they're deadly for most people, is shakey head and neko rig. I'm not sure why I neglect them like I do,

One technique I've never used in my life, and probably never will, is the Carolina rig.

neko rig

The neko is essentially just a weighted wacky rig.  I use it when the fish have moved a little deeper (usually in midsummer) along the defined weed line.  The nail weight just gets it down there a lot quicker than a standard wacky rig does.  Sometimes the fish hit it right on the fall.

Dropshot, I only used it once this past year, and I have a nice pack of 4.5" roboworms just waiting to be used.

Jerkbaits, I've never gotten a bass on one mainly because I almost never fish them

Ned rig, just because it's supposed to be dynamite for pressured fish hanging out deeper but I haven't made a connection on a largie yet with one tied on

I have everything needed for it, I just never use it. I need to start.

One that is cheap, catches fish almost every cast, does not tangle, impossible to snag. Can anybody recommend such a Lure?

Right now I'm pretty green to Buzzbaits, but I've had great success with the Terminator Buzzbaits which I don't think they make anymore.   I'll be using a number of different types to see what works, but the colors will be black, purple, and pink.

Not anything I'm really looking forward to fishing more other than an A-rig. Only real reason for that is Kansas is going from allowing 2 hooks on the rig, to allowing 5 on January 1st. So I'll be actually able to utilize it quite a bit more effectively now and pretty excited to do so.

Inspiring and epic indeed. However for me it would be the same as wanting be like Michael Jordan when I lace up my Nikes and grab a basketball ?

I bought a War Eagle that hasn’t seen water yet that’s a purple skirt and purple blade. Yea it’s purty!! I need to load up on night buzzers too.

I hadn't thrown a buzzbait in a decade and read that article......next day which was a few weeks back I said what the heck and threw the buzzbait some.....absolutely electric day.   Followed it up the next day with another 10 or so fish on it.    Those two days gave me all the confidence I needed to throw it this summer, I'm excited to see what happens :)

Jig fishing is what I would like to gain confidence in. Regular jigs, finesse jigs and swim jigs. Crazy thing is, my PB smallies came on a black and blue, Denny Baur flipping jig! That and a drum are the total or my jig fishing.

Drop shot. I have caught a couple fish on it but it’s just not something that seems to work for me. I have been putting in the time now to learn it. Now the water is cold so I was hoping it would shine more for me.

Throw a clear Zara Puppy while the Fish Flies and Mayflies are hatching. Seems like they can't really see it, but see movement and can't seem to resist hitting. We had one year during the Mayfly hatch where we hit it just right. The smallies were literally jumping out of the water and catching the clear Zara Puppy as it was landing. Nothing other than clear would work. I have witnesses!! ?? I only had one of the clear and my friend and nephew were ticked off!

For me,... I'd like to get better at crankbaiting. I've caught some fish on them, but not often so I tend not to use them much. I watch these shows of people tearing them up on cranks and have never had much luck.
