thinking of ordering an alx enox lsb for carolina igs football heads etc. anybody have any experience wit this rod series. never owned alx before. Would also be interested in comments on the zolo dragger.

I recently picked up  the Zolo Grind for cranking, workmanship, fit and finish is excellent. I was so happy with it,  I bought a 7'4 Zolo Crank for smaller profile deep divers, I had the same experience in regards to quality and workmanship.  I am impressed with ALX and would definitely purchase more down the road.

I use a Zolo Dragger pretty extensively for football jigs and Carolina rigs.  Excellent rod for both.  It’s 7’4” which I like, although if you get bit at the very end of a long cast, sometime a few extra inches of length/leverage could help getting a good hook set.  But then again, a longer rod when throwing a ball and chain can be cumbersome too, so it’s about right for length.

The solution for me has been switching out to a 8.1:1 reel to help pick up line with bites at the end of a long casts..

I have an Enox but not LSB so I can’t comment there other than the Enox is a great rod to fish with.

All my rods are mostly ALX Zolos and I love them all.  Still have couple IKOS but my friend bought most of them and now he is buying more Zolos too.

I have the Dragger and have used it for Jigs/T-rigs and even small Swimbaits.

Been tempted to get couple Enox models but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Alex the owner is extremely patient and helped me choose the best models for my situationss on multiple occasions.  Call or email him and I’m sure he would be more than happy to help.

They also currently have their 3 rod bundle sale which they only do once a year.

I have the Enox Decoy.  Great build quality, light and crisp, very sensitive.  I've used it for T-rigged beaver style baits and craws, Dark Sleepers, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and buzzbaits.  It's handled all very well.

I have a Decoy as well and its awesome. I use it primarily for 3/8 oz jigs, sometimes up to 1/2 oz footballs, and anything Texas-rigged.  Sensitive, great action to keep fish pinned.

Really would like to try the new Enox Aura BFS rod, but not sure Santa has my new address...

Even if Santa doesn't, I'd bet a paycheck that the Bait Monkey does. :laughing9:

I have the ALX Enox in casting med power 7' bought it 2 years ago, it's a super nice rod, you have to like what I would call "fat" designed rods cause that's what it is.  The action is right on and it's light enough, I don't think I'd buy another one though its not my favorite rod, and this is my personal choice and opinion.

thanks guys. i think ill try the dragger just to get a feel for the alx rods. if i like that one i may venture into the enox .

Suggest contacting Alex and ask what his exchange policy is if you decide to try out a model and exchange it.

When you say "fat" designed rods,  do you mean it has a thicker diameter blank? Compared to similar action/price point rods.

It’s great to deal directly with the owner of the company with any issues. I broke one of mine , thru my own fault, took a fall. I had a replacement within a week for half price. Also had a question about a different rod, and talked directly to Alex about it, and got excellent answers on first phone call.

I owned the LSB rod. It felt maybe a tad underpowered for the 1/2 oz + trailer football jigs I was throwing on it… 3/8 seemed to be the sweet spot. I also have a bmj, strike, and decoy. My favorite is the decoy. Super versatile rod.

The enox, and I believe all the top series of ALX rods are also 100% American made.

Enox, Zolos and Onix are made in South Carolina.  The IKOS series is assembled in SC.

You guys are killing me and make me want to get a Decoy.

Yes it has a thick diameter blank, more so than other casting reels I've seen or owned.

It’s more-so the cork handle grip near the reel seat that is thicker on the enox rods (and maybe the Zolo too?). The rod blank itself isn’t any thicker than my other non-ALX rods.

How do you know the rod wall thickness?

Most MH casting granite rod blanks measured near the reel seat will be close to 1/2” diameter.

This is true for the Zolos and IKOS too, but to be honest I never noticed it until I read about it. For me, I guess it’s a plus, because it’s the most comfortable rods I ever felt in my hands.
