Super User FishTank Posted November 23, 2022 Super User Posted November 23, 2022 With all the Black Friday sales starting, I was reminded yesterday how important it is to support your local tackle shop.... I stopped in at a local shop which use to cater to a different group of fisherman (they now carry bass equipment) and they have a ton of stuff by all the brands that restrict putting things on sale. So typically they don't see a lot of traffic this time of year. For instance they have about 50-75 of the new Shimano Miravel which is a lot of stock for a small shop. Since they don't have a website or deals like discount gift cards, it's hard for them to move a large volume of one item but they are required to carry/order a specific amount by their suppliers which makes it tuff on a small business. So if you can, please support your small local shops this time of year. They are getting hit hard by being excluded from the big sales and online stores. 6 Quote

Unfortunately, they're primarily a pike/musky/walleye/panfish shop. Quote

Do you know when they're officially done? I should really stop in there and ask if they're gong to continue the reel cleaning portion of the business. The brother that did mine last winter seemed to think that he might continue to do that out of his house. Quote

It's all up to the city planner. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted November 23, 2022 Super User Posted November 23, 2022 I stopped in the first time since the pandemic 2 weekends ago to our local shop, and will be stopping in again. They redid the shop and many of the prices aren't nuts like they used to be. They even added a premium bass bait section with Megabass, etc. Dropped around 40 bucks which didn't get me in trouble at home so all is good. Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted November 25, 2022 Super User Posted November 25, 2022 The supply chain BS isn't helping them out any either. My local shop owner still struggles to get stuff. I bought the last of his keitech fats last week. Quote

It's everywhere, for everything that is hard to source or the places that have stock are charging a premium. Supply and demand makes things increasingly expensive, not just inflation. I don't have any local tackle shops but I don't buy any fishing related stuff anymore either. 1 Quote
