AustonW Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hey guys, walked into the tackle store and walked out with the Tatula 80 baitcaster. It was on sale and I’m a tatula fan and I couldn’t help myself. My question is now, what can I use a size 80 reel for? I’m still new to the bass fishing arena thanks in advance. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 22, 2022 Super User Posted November 22, 2022 My CA-80 is on my flip/pitch rig...since you're not casting far, it's the perfect size for that. Quote

Anything you like where typical bass baits are concerned and you're not using large diameter mono or fluoro for bomb casting. 3 Quote

Eric 26 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I have the same reel. I mounted mine on a 7 foot rod loaded it up with 10 pound seaguar basix fluorocarbon and use it to throw spinnerbaits. It’s not a low capacity spool such as the 70 series reels. It’s meant for throwing lighter baits easier but mine does just fine with the way I’m using it. 4 Quote

You know, there are a ton of rods on sale right now too. Wouldn't you enjoy fishing your new Tatula reel on a new Tatula rod? Sure you would. Go ahead, buy one. You know you want to. After all... They're on sale!!! Think of the money you'll be saving by buying now!!! 2 2 Quote

a1712 Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 I don't understand why they insist on calling the 80 a finesse reel when it holds 110 yards of 12lb line, has Magforce braking, the spool weighs 15 grams and it's aluminum framed w/a aluminum handle side plate. I have one and really like it, mounted on a Rebellion MH/F rod and spooled with McCoy 12lb Ext. Clear. I can throw a 3" paddle tail w/a 1/8oz jig head or a 3/4 oz Jig on it, it works perfectly. List another sub $125 reel with those attributes. Brian. PS. If you cut me, I bleed Shimano Blue. 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted November 24, 2022 Super User Posted November 24, 2022 Rereading this post confuses me; good for flipping-pitch and BSF total opposites....welcome to bass fishing. Tom 3 Quote
