Iaconelli's boats for sale

[Bass Dude]

I saw two of his Bass Cats 2008 and 2009 on sale in the classifieds of another website.  The boats are LOADED, still has all of the electronics, and the rest of bells and whistles you would expect...and still wrapped.  I think it would be cool to have all that stuff and a boat that he actually used...what do you guys think??    Not that I could buy it anyway, but just curious what you all thought!!

Would be cool to own his boat but as everyone else has already stated, He is tough on boats.  I read an article where he is quoted as saying that he doesn't baby his equipment because its paid for.  He even wrote that he put a hole in the hull of his first bassboat within a week. 

Ive even seen him break parts off on City Limits.  Must be nice to not care.  I still wipe mine down and wax it every time it comes out of the water and its a 96.

JERRY: You bought a car because it belonged to Jon Voight?

GEORGE (defensive): No, no...

JERRY: I think yes, yes. You like the idea of telling people you're driving Jon Voight's car.

GEORGE: Alright, maybe I do. So what.

New scene - Jerry and George walking down the street toward George's new car.

GEORGE: You are gonna love this car. Even if you don't like Jon Voight.

JERRY: I like Jon Voight. Just seems like kind've a strange reason to buy a car, because he might have driven it.

GEORGE: What do you mean "might"? You don't think he really owned this car?

JERRY: I don't know.

GEORGE: Well, why would the guy make up something like that? Of all the names he could pick, why settle on Jon Voight?

JERRY: Don't you see, that's the genius of it. If he had said Liam Neeson, you'd know he's making it up.

GEORGE: Neeson? How are you comparing Liam Neeson with Jon Voight? Jerry, we're talking about Joe Buck. If you can play Joe Buck, Oskar Schindler's a cake walk. <Opens the car door for Jerry, Jerry's about to get in.>

JERRY: Oh, look at this, I stepped in gum.

GEORGE: Whoa, whoa, you're not getting in my car with gummy shoes.

JERRY (shuts the car door): Alright, I'll change my shoes. <Heads back to his apartment. George follows.>

owning one of Ike's boat would just sounds like a pain in the ***, not to mention you would look like a complete wannabe when you have your boat wrapped and tricked out on the back of your turck and you go to bass pro or something and you have to pay full price for everything and then you still loose the tournament lol

It would be a piece of sports memorabilia.  Especially if you owned a boat from Ike, Skeet, KVD, or any other boat they may have fished and won the Bassmaster classic out of.  Its like catching the baseball from a milestone HomeRun.

Fishing out of it would suck, for all the reasons listed. The wrap, however, can be taken off and then you still have a nice boat if all you wanted it for was for fishing.

I wouldnt mind owning either one. Id remove the wrap instantly. Its not that it was his boat, more that Bass Cat makes great boats. Im sure they are well reduced in price. They are most likely in tip top shape as well. Windshields dont cost much, and Ike probably gets extras when he picks up his boat. Its probably been gone through at Bass Cat.

My partner bought a boat from Skeet Reese several years ago. The boat had never even been started. Some of these guys get more then one boat, and they dont always use the second one. Then after the sale Skeet assisted in taking care of any issues.

It's not necessarily that's it's Ike's.  But to have a boat that's decked out with all the electronics and set up "like the pros" use, I think would be cool.

I guess if all you had was a 12 foot john boat, It'd be nice to own.  (nothing against 12 foot john boats of course)

The boats are haunted.

If you did purchase one you would dance on the deck; run around the entire boat fighting a fish; yell and scream with every one you put in the boat; and run around yelling "Never Give Up" all the time.

Stick with one that is not haunted.

You have a point, but then again it's not an attack on their character.  I know that if I didn't have to pay for my boats because they were provided by a sponsor then hell yes I would do things in that I wouldn't do in my Pantera IV.  I get the point of memorabilia, and I work for a guy who owns one of the boats used in the '09 Bassmasters Classic.  But for everyday joes like myself buying abused from a big tournament trail is not ideal.  If you have company cars you drive for your work, you would notice that although they are maintained to a T by the company, they probably see a mechanic more than normal cars, but are probably the worst used cars to ever buy.  Because people on the job worry first about the job, not the equipment.  Those cats out there are literally on the job, if they beat up their boats trying to win to get the only paycheck they'll see for that few weeks, then yes they are going to abuse the boat.  In short don't buy any vehicle that's been used in a professional fleet unless you're buying for memorabilia sake. 

And people who are against generalizing are ignorant, generalities are the only place to start, whether you are talking cars, boats, cultures, people in general.  Often those generalities are broken by a few, but that's why they are generalities and not hard line rules.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. While I have never seen Ike's boat(s) I have seen other guys who have fished the Elite's.............not pretty.

I'm thinking of the abuse they put them through at the Classic a couple years back on the Red River.  They were back in the shallows grinding hulls and lower units over the top of stumps like crazy

I am friends with a couple open and elite pros, I have been there when they pulled the wraps off and those boats get beat up! not always from the guys but the bodies of water and the amount of fishing. but I also know a guy who has the boat Preston Clark caught the record bag out of and that boat is nearly perfect so it all depends.

A boat is a tool.  If you fish a lake with a lot of standing trees and your bassboat isn't getting beat up you aren't fishing in all the hairy places where bass hang out.  However, I want my boat to look nice when I buy it.  I'll be the one putting the scratches in the gelcoat. 

Now the motor is another matter and the pros run them hard.  Also, someone mentioned dragging lower units over the tops of stumps which doesn't sound good for the motor or the transom.
