For the bass fisherman in the far north, who are already in winter mode, you may need one more to argue over.  Palomar knot.  I wont have time to chime in, because this is prime season, and I am going fishing for the next two days.  By the time I get back I probably will have thought of another word to get the thread going again.  You snow bound anglers have to have something to do.

I just ignore it - don't use it...so it's a moot point, man.

I'll take it Tom - especially since Ra-Pah-La's HQ is less than a dozen miles from me.

Ain’t gonna be much left to talk about in January.

Between the "what is the best" threads, guys wanting to hook up blanks to oscilloscopes, and righties that want to be lefties without their wives finding out, I think we have plenty of topics...

If Chicken Katsu, then Gama Katsu.

Pronounce the vowel “a” as in the word awe, or as in, “Ah, isn’t that puppy cute?”

‘Nuff said. ? Cabin fever is arriving earlier this year. ?

i actually love this post. ^^

true story.  i was in Tokyo, and i said horrific words to  my wife.  i said, "hey lets go find Hattori Hanzo shrine!".  she is a total trooper and came along.  eye rolling the entire time, playfully.  (he is the name that they used as the sword maker in Kill Bill).  but apparently a real ninja.  we find it and there was no way we could determine which was his final resting spot becasue everything was in japanese!!  there  were dozens of shrines.  my wife was not happy, espeically when we got lost trying to find our way back.  i found a lady sweeping a step, and tried to show her my map.  the smell hit me.  i paused, smiled, and took a deep breath.  she said, "Tonkatsu!"  and waved me in.  when we walked in, the room halted.  they all looked up at us like we were martains.  hahhaha..the lady said something and they all went back to eating.  i walked around the room looking at everyones food.  some patrons would hold the dish up for me, and maybe give me a thumbs up.  i pointed, my wife pointed and the lady brought us the most delicious Tonkatsu i have ever eaten.   a patron helped us with the map and got us back to our familiar neighborhood.  my wife and still talk about that day.  i should have GPS's the restaurant as a waypoint.  duh!!

I went to the Rapala website for clarification, and they had this:

If only I was a linguist that knew what that is supposed to sound like, LOL. Clear as mud.

You are on point with tonkatsu. That is the bomb.

I can one up you. I was learning from a few Japanese friends some Japanese and I decided to put to use what I learned in a Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, I was solo so I had no help. I successfully ordered one Katsu don (don means bowl, so Katsu in a bowl over rice) but I couldn’t remember the word for eel, as I was trying to order eel sushi.  To my surprise, eel tastes really good. Normally I’d be grossed out, but I’m not kidding. My brain was scrambling for that word but I just couldn’t remember - so I made a “best guess” and told the lady Enu (pronounced EE-New). The lady’s ? eyes popped out of her head like an anime cartoon and when I saw her face, I knew I guessed wrong and immediately realized I said dog.

I was mortified, but I think she was more so. I know they say better late than never but it sucks in this case, as the word finally came to mind — Unagi = Eel.

On the bright side, it was good my Japanese friends were not there. They’d probably never let me live that down to this day and this was 30 years ago, lol.

You want Americans to pronounce a foreign word properly? I'd settle for proper English, and maybe no extra syllables in the south. We always just called the Gammies.

Hey hey hey now - no need to come after our version of American English. Our food is better too

I haven’t got that one right in almost 70 years, to me it’s war-chester, and always will be.
