Super User A-Jay Posted November 15, 2022 Super User Posted November 15, 2022 Over the weekend we added Jana & Ruby to the pack, temporarily. Both 11 years old spayed females who lived together and are now looking for a new home. We actually fostered & place these ladies both with the same owner 10 years ago. Sadly, the man passed away last Thursday. So we're helping these pups destress and be ready to adjust to whatever comes next. Both sweethearts and could easily be foster failures. Expect them to be re-homed here pretty quick. Especially with that story. https://www.facebook.com/ThePAWZ/posts/pfbid0nDwyyUQSNPWBEbN69GDFKXrNuFzL4v7V6hc735YDnJNHBsxwQook5KcoNMj7JKHcl A-Jay 20 1 Quote

Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 15, 2022 Super User Posted November 15, 2022 You're a good man A-Jay! Agree, those puppers will be gone in no time. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 15, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 15, 2022 Thanks guys ~ And Yes Ruby's the red & white and she's a character for sure. A real 'talker' and she moans when she eats ! It's hilarious. A-Jay 3 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 15, 2022 Super User Posted November 15, 2022 I am so glad you and I are not neighbors. my wife would adopt the pair. then do the Jedi mind trick on me and make me think it was my idea from the start. 2 3 Quote

Pretty funny actually ~ When it comes to puppies & foster failures in particular, my wife & I take turns doing this to each other. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted November 15, 2022 Super User Posted November 15, 2022 Nice. Hopefully the girls can stay together. 2 Quote

Thanks ~ We're hoping that as well and they certainly like to hang out together. But I think they'll be OK either way. IMO, adopting a senior dog, especially a large breed, takes a special kind of human spirit with a very generous heart. Social media is just flat out AMAZING when it comes to this type of deal. We're working hard and keeping our fingers crossed. A-Jay 4 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted November 16, 2022 Super User Posted November 16, 2022 Great looking senior pups. Senior dogs are the the best. Good for you for fostering. I imagine if I tried, every one would be a foster failure ?. I’m sure the fact that these 2 have some familiarity with you will really help their transition. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted November 16, 2022 Global Moderator Posted November 16, 2022 Cute pups. You and Lynn are saints. Hopefully those two can stay together. Quote
ScottW Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 If we lived closer to you @A-Jay I’ve a feeling we’d be checking those two out as soon as my wife saw them. ? 3 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 16, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 16, 2022 Once the dogs are 'ready' to go, the less time they are with us, the better. For the dogs anyway. Best case is our time together is sort of like a weekend retreat. Just to get them back on their feet. And as luck would have it, seems we have a most excellent potential new owner for the girls. Nice lady contacted us last night and there will be some back & forth follow up today. But right off the top she's close (down state a couple of hours) and checks all the boxes & then some. Some times it goes like that. Other times, it's a waiting game searching for the right deal. Takes dogged patience (see what I did there) but we're very willing to wait. Has to be that way. Not the case on this deal though. Very exciting for all parties involved. Love watching the new owner meet their 'new dog(s).' That smile is some thing special. More to follow after we get some final details. A-Jay 4 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 17, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 17, 2022 The malamutes have really calmed down surprisingly fast and adjusted very comfortably into our 'routine'. So we are a full go for an adoption later today ! We'll all be meeting with the new owner at the local animal shelter. Taking on these 2 pups is a special type of handful and this one seems like a really good fit. Hopefully we can snap a few pics before they go and then Jana & Ruby will be on to their next adventure. Super User A-Jay Posted November 17, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 17, 2022 And we are Mission Complete ~ Entire deal was super smooth and went without a single hitch. Wish they all went like this one. Jana & Ruby should be almost to their new home by now. So glad they were adopted together. Side note; after completing the paper work at the animal shelter, we always take a stroll through the holding pens to check out the dogs there. I met my next project. "Bob", is a year and a half mix breed who's a bit of a wild one. Bummer is, he's so hyper, he's been at the shelter since June. Once this weather clears, I'll be going back to work with Bob. Start out with just some walking & leash work, and we'll see where that takes us. But this guy has energy to burn and really needs 'a job'. More to follow. A-Jay 6 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted November 17, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 17, 2022 Safely at their new digs. Owner say Jana is snoring and Ruby sounds like she's talking to herself. #nailedit A-Jay 5 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted November 17, 2022 Global Moderator Posted November 17, 2022 That’s awesome to hear. I was really hoping they would stay together. I’m sure they’d be fine without each other, but it makes me anxious when pairs get split up after being with each other for so long. 1 1 Quote
