I'm looking for a casting reel that can cast lures as light as a 1/4 oz, and have an audible bait clicker, with a drag and hardware that can stand up to tackle busters like carp and stripers. A quick search on Amazon showed me this kastking reel as highly rated. I am sure it would be good for cats, but I am wary of expecting casting distance with light lures on round reels. Will this reel cast a cast a 1/4 oz spinner or blade bait? These baits are light but they are compact and I throw them fine on low profile casting reels with brake and magnet/pins adjusted. If there is another reel worth considering please discuss.

1/4 oz. is probably a stretch for that reel. I also doubt many here have this reel. For $52 it's worth a try if that's your budget. Worst case, you have your trolling/bait reel.

I’d agree with @J Francho on this. Its going to be overkill for a 1/4oz lure and probably cause you more grief than success. I have a KastKing ArmorX Crixus that I love paired to a 7’6” BPS Graphite rod with 50# braid that handles heavier stuff with ease. The 1/4oz stuff I throw is from smaller spinning rigs. Maybe a 2-rod/reel approach would work better here?

SEAKNIGHT red fox might be something worth looking into, deep spool weighs 12 grams, run no less than 10lb on it, spool tolerances like line to get stuck between the spool and frame. Will fling weightless lizards far... centrifugal breaking.
