Fishin Dad Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Does anyone know the difference between these two? I am going to order one, just want to make sure I know what I am getting. Thanks, Fishin Dad Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted November 5, 2022 Super User Posted November 5, 2022 As far as I know the S just has a shallow sv spool which should better handle lighter baits while the base model has a regular sv spool. 3 Quote

Thanks, that makes sense. Hard to figure out the JDM stuff sometimes. Some of you guys are unreal at knowing this stuff. I appreciate it! 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted November 5, 2022 Super User Posted November 5, 2022 This ^^^ and just want to add. The shallow spool version is not true BFS equivalent just hold less line (both about 12.x grams spool). Regular spool might hold about 80yds of 10lb USA Copolymer and shallow version is half of that. Another different but not important is handle, shallow version come with silver/gray handle and spool instead of black. If you plan to use 6lb Copolymer or 8lb FC for finesse, the shallow version is good and might help you control light lure better from total spool weight with line. 2 Quote

I am planning on using it for skipping 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs. I will probably get the standard model. I love my Tatula SV and have heard that the Alpha controls as well as the Tat, but feels more refined. I hope that is true. Quote

Yes Alphas with regular SV spool control better than SV boost spool but with heavier lure (your case) and a little more brake, the Zillion should be able to skip quite as well. The reason I say Zillion, because coming from Tatula, zillion is closer in physical reel size and line capacity. The alphas is pretty small reel with narrow spool, you might have a hard time controlling. Zillion you can comfortable spool with 15lb FC and can bomb cast when you need distance. The price is about 60 bucks different, I think it is worth considering. Quote

I picked the Alphas SV TW on a recommendation from a user on this site. It is a great reel, small and built like a tank. Superior cast control at the cost of max distance but well worth it, the max distance is still very good though. Skips very well and adjusts incredibly easy. I replaced the handle with a cheap carbon fiber 95mm handle. Love this reel. 2 Quote

I actually already have the old Zillion SV and the new Zillion SV, along with a Tatula SV. I feel like the old Zillion has amazing cast control, the Tatula next, and the new Zillion last. Maybe I don’t have the new Zillion set up right? That is why I thought about the Alphas. Give another SV a try. They all allow me to skip without much thought or trouble. I would be plenty happy just getting another Tatula if the Alphas is not much upgrade or not up to wrenching bass out of docks or skipping those jigs. Thanks Fellas! 1 Quote
Tatulatard Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 You'll like the little alphas. You'll want a longer handle but thats an easy upgrade. Might as well get some bigger knobs for it while you're at it. 1 Quote

Where is the best place buy handles and knobs? I want to get some for my Zillion SV as well. I hear people talking about that a lot. Quote

I am not sure I am allowed to say the specific site but it's an express site And don't worry she's got plenty of power, aluminum frame, handle side plate, and top portion. Quote
