Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 I think I want to drop a few quiet Crankbaits into my box. any recommendations? medium depth? 5 footers? dunno. I suck with cranks. Quote
Ben77 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Strike king kvds and lucky craft 1.5s work for me! 2 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 Frittside crankbaits are what a successful tourney angler just told me about the other day. Got one to try. That said, so many companies offer silent versions of CBs. Lots of good options. The Berkeley ones are 8.99, so not that bad on the wallet. Quote
GReb Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Lucky Craft, Spro, and Rapala make great silent cranks Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 Wooden/Balsa diving crank baits are silent, several brands available at various diving depths. Tom 5 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 Pretty much every crank has a silent version. I like the LCs and DT6s, but they all work, but if you suck with noisy cranks, you gonna suck with silent ones... Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 4, 2022 Author Super User Posted November 4, 2022 hahha. back to topic. I found a KVD 1.5 in a box in my garage. and went to the store to find the last Lucky Craft. got my game face on. 1 Quote

CM-fisher Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Rapala DT 6's are my favorite silent cranks Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted November 4, 2022 Super User Posted November 4, 2022 I like the Spro Little John crankbaits. They make them in silent and rattling. Quote
Jamo Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 I have some silent Strike King KVD 2.5's that have some good teeth marks in them. I also have some LC 2.5's that I picked up during the Christmas sale a few years ago. They all run close to 5 foot depth but I'm not sure if they fully reach it Quote
Bass Rutten Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 DT's are not silent, they have a subtle rattle in them but are quieter than some others, same with the spros. The lc's, kvd's, and bagley b's are my favorite silent ones. Quote
Woody B Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 FWIW I've never heard a "real" baitfish rattle. Why do they make crankbaits that rattle? (to catch fishermen?) I will reluctantly use a crankbait that rattles and occasionally catch bass on them. However I have switched from rattling crankbaits to silent ones and started catching bass. I've never switched from silent to ones that rattle and started catching bass. What I'm saying is I believe that sometimes the rattle don't hurt anything but they never help anything. I've injected rattling baits with glue to silence them. 1 Quote

I've never seen baitfish riding tiny helicopters with blades whirling above them, yet spinnerbaits work great. 2 Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted November 5, 2022 Super User Posted November 5, 2022 Carolina custom crankbaits are Balsa and made in Valdese NC. Their models cover from 2-10 feet. Jason is working on a deeper model that I will help field test early Spring. 1 Quote
Dan N Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 6th sense Crush 50s (silent) been doing well on them, and come with great hooks. Also a fan of the rapala bx brat 1 Quote

Super User Munkin Posted November 6, 2022 Super User Posted November 6, 2022 There is no true silent crankbait as the hooks and split rings make a rattling sound. That said the LC 1.5 square bill and SK Silent series are my first choice. Allen Quote

A lot of waters here are pretty high pressure and clear so a more subtle crank seems to be better. On 11/5/2022 at 5:42 AM, Woody B said: FWIW I've never heard a "real" baitfish rattle. (to catch fishermen?) while an individual baitfish doesn’t rattle in itself, a school of baitfish will produce a rhythmic whoosh as they swim that isn’t far off a higher pitched rattle. I’ve heard it myself while snorkeling and diving. 1 Quote
Chris Catignani Posted November 19, 2022 Posted November 19, 2022 Even without rattles...all the hardware makes noise too. This is one of the reason I started making my own. If I decide to add a rattle...it can be glass in glass...brass in metal...etc Quote
