Hey,

So I have a shimano 2500 stradic I bought a couple years ago and I'm looking for a nice rod to pair it with. I was debating between M or MH, but decided that I like fighting the fish a little more so I am looking for a nice M 7' rod. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for something not really high end, around $100 - $150 range. Thanks

A Shimano SLX fits at the bottom of your budget, and is a fantastic rod!   I sadly broke mine a few days ago, but it was dynamite.    It was the 7" MH Fast though.

They offer a M action in the same lineup.

Dobyns Fury 703SF - this is primarily my weightless plastics rod, but it can be used for a whole lot more.

You have a ton of options and ton of opinion base on individual experience, mostly whatever they use without comparison with others.
I have tried 5-6 different spinning rod in these price range. My ideal spinning rod is light weight, well balance and exceptional sensitivity.

Majorcraft Nanoace, super soft tip, super light weight, good for dropshot, Ned rig wacky rig, weightless worm and light Texas rig.

Daiwa Tatula, also light weight, soft tip with lots of backbone, good for shaky head, Neko rig, Senko.

Shimano Curado (new model), a little bit stiffer and heavier blank compare to first two, but balance quite well good for all around.

Can't do better than a 7' medium Tatula rod.

My favorite rod is my 7’MF St Croix Premier. It’s excellent.

Anything from St Croix in that price range (Triumph, Bass X, Mojo, Premier) would be my recommendation

I have a 2500 too,use it on a 6'6" M Premier. For heavy weeds i go to a MH of the same.

I’m going to throw out my suggestion for a 13 fishing “fate black” rod. I have the 7’-1” med.light which is used primarily for 1/16th oz ned rigs. They also offer several other rods in your price range both full and split grips. They have a fantastic warranty/customer service which I’ve thankfully not had to use and are pretty well liked by several members on here most notably @bulldog1935 who has a heck of a lot pricier options available to him.

The Daiwa Tatula is a great rod for $150. Haven’t used their spinning rods but I’ve used their casting rods in both the regular and elite series and they definitely feel like they could be 200 bucks. I currently use a Dobyns Kaden 712s and it is very versatile. Don’t let the medium light rating fool you though, it’s a medium with a lot of backbone and a nice tip. Usually they are 180 but tackle warehouse has them for 159 right now. I’ve seen them come down to 120 during sales like Black Friday and such (how I got mine). Helluva rod. Lots of good choices in the 100-150 range so take a shot and you’ll probably end up with a good stick

The Tatula 7' M F is a great all around rod, but its a lighter medium power wise.

The 7'2 M F Phenix Maxim is a great do it all rod.

Ark gives you a great blank for the money.  Either the Tharp or Invoker, both have a 40t blank.

If you want to go with a SC, it would either be the BassX or the Mojo.  I havent fished the new BassX, not crazy about the look of the foregrip, but once I got my hands on one, I was surprised at how much I liked it.  The blanks are nice, lighter and better balanced then the premeir and triumph.  The mojo is a little more $.  For that you get a considerable upgrade in blank quality, which translates to less weight, faster recovery and more sensitivity.

Personally I would go with the 7' M/XF Shimano Intenza in that price range, but you've got a lot of options here and plenty of great suggestions.

I would up the budget a little and shop around for a St Croix Victory spinning rod VTS 71MF  or VTS 73MXF, with 15% discounts available is about $160.

I actually have the intenza already but for casting in MH. I like the rod a lot, it's a sharp looking rod too.

I fish a spinning rod with three fingers in front off the stem so I like a spinning rid with a foregrip.

My favorites in the price range you mentioned right now would be the Daiwa RG or Tatula rods or the Falcon Low Riders

this is my 90% rod.  it is always with me.  drop shot is the main duty, therefore i consider the bait keeper tab to be in the perfect place on this rod.

i is easily my ugliest rod :)  i paired it with the Tatula another lightweight contender and it balances well.

I'm not much into spinning gear anymore, but I recently bought a Falcon Lowrider ML for $130 to use when finesse fishing. I tested it out the other day for about 20 minutes and while I didn't catch anything it seems like a decent budget rod.

Last year I bout a 6th Sense Milliken Spinning Rod in the 6'10" Medium Action Moderate Fast. It costed $135 so it won't break the bank. Out of all the rods I've ever owned this one is by far my favorite. You can feel every single rock on the bottom, yet it still has tons of hook setting power. I fish primarily smallmouth with dropshots, neds, paddletails and tubes. The biggest fish I've caught on it was a 25-30lb ray this summer while fishing for perch and it handled amazing. I have it paired with a Diawa Regal (soon to be Tatula 2000) with 10lb braid. Its also super tough, I even slammed the tip in my car door and you cant even tell. 100% would recommend to anyone.

SC Mojo Bass is a good option and has SCIII graphite.

Midway has the Evergreen  combat stick in medium fast 6'10" for 88 shipped.   200 dollar rod.  My buddy loves his.  88 seems like a no brainer.

Daiwa Tatula either the 6'10" med which is a sweet little rod or the 7' . I prefer the 6'10" its a great all around rod to me.
