Any ya'll own either reel? Does the SV spool make that much of a difference? The Tatula 80 seems to hold just a bit more line than the Tatula SV 70. And weight of both reels are the same. Is one better at paling than the other?

From the 2 Tatulas, which of the 2 is comparable to the Shimano Metanium MGL?

I’ve never had the Tat 80 but I have a Tat CT SV and used to have a regular Tat CT. The SV spool does make a big difference. You basically end up sacrificing casting distance for control and light lure casting ability. For heavier lures it’s not needed and the Tat 80 would probably be a better choice, but if you plan on regularly throwing around 1/4oz then I’d take the SV all day

Or, if you don't have concerns with ordering JDM,... Does an Alphas SV offer another option? Last I looked, they were a bit cheaper, but availability was iffy.

I think a lefty Alphas SV was $197 on Digitaka last time I looked.

REALLY?? That's $30 bucks cheaper than last time I looked. Need to order a couple at that price if they have them available. I'd want a lefty 7spd.

Guess an 8spd would make a nice little piching rig.

Wow! Just checked and a Zillion SV is $222.

Forget the others mentioned!

If you could afford the Tat 80 at $199 or the Tat SV70 at $229 or what ever it is,... The Zillion at $222 is a no brainer if you aren't opposed to ordering a JDM from Japan!

I bought the alphas sv tw 7 speed left hand about two months ago. Very nice little reel. Cast well and skips like a dream, something I have been unable to do with a baitcaster until now.

I’d take the Alphas SV over any Tatula.

I have 2 80's.  Very smooth and good distance.  When choosing between SV or standard, It comes down to what you value....more control (SV) or longer casts (non-SV).

Oh right. I thought your username looked familiar. You're the one that hinted me on the availability on tackle tour. I got my bfs spool a few weeks ago. I weighed it and It's about 8 or 9 grams. I can't remember exactly. Casts pretty nice.

Right on.  I waited a bit to shop the ali site and placed an order for several things....gomexus handles, tat 100 long cast spools, andnknobs.  Should start showing up soon.
