BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 14, 2012 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 14, 2012 Any tips on how to find a station in a given area that sell ethanol-free gas? Is there a web site with listings??? I've looked around my area and can't find any What is Ring Free Glenn? I haven't heard of it. I've been using ethanol and the recommended amount of stabil for almost three years now, I can't afford to blow an engine Have you seen the BoatUS news report that EPA has taken the next step toward putting E15 on the streets; EPA announced it on April 2, 2012. There's a sticky at top of this (boating) forum that lists sites that show ethanol-free gas stations. Ring Free is a popular engine cleaner from Yamaha. Many folks also use Sea Foam. Both are about the same. Either way, double up on the dosages. Yes, I've heard about that report. It's odd, because everything I've heard about ethanol lately is that it's never accomplished what it was originally supposed to do. So adding more of something that's known not to be effective doesn't make any sense in my simple mind. Mike - we never had any indication whatsoever that there was any problem at all. Everything was fine until one morning we launched the boat and couldn't get it on plane. Not a good feeling. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2012 Super User Posted April 14, 2012 Looks like we in IL will be the test dummies for E-15 fuel. http://www.myjournalcourier.com/articles/drivers-39118-praised-e15.html They're going to offer it as an option first. LOL I find this hard to believe because I'd imagine the modifications the gas stations will have to endure ie additional storage tanks will be quite expensive. Most gas stations have 3 grades plus diesel. What will probably happen is they get rid of one grade for now and replace it with the E-15. until they have multiple octanes in E-15 form. Quote
Deadeye-1 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Well, all I can say is that I use Star-Tron fuel additive every time I add fuel to my tank. I've never had a problem and don't expect to. I used to use the Stabil-Marine, until I started having issues. The insides of my lines were all deteriating and there were tiny bits of it all through my carbs. I switched to the Star*Tron and never have had a problem. If you read the bottle you will see that it is better in everyway than Stabil. I have had several boat owners tell me that Star*Tron is what their dealers & Mecanics have told them to use. It TOTALLY Eliminates the ethonal problems, keeps in insides of your lines soft, and will make your enigine run bettter with better fuel mileage. I have also started using it in my SUV. My friend had his wife start to use it (he already does in everything he owns) and within one month she gained 150 miles to a tank of gas in her Caravan. We sell a ton of it. You can find it in almost any Wal Mart sporting goods dept. Quote
