24V trolling Motor question

I'm looking at a 24V Minn Kota All Terrain Trolling Motor (65#). The one its replacing is a 12v. I just want to confirm that the proper way to hook it up is to hook a cable from + of one battery to the - of the other. Then, hook the black wire from TM to - of one battery and the red to + of the other.

Also, can I hook up the rest of my electronics to either one of those two batteries, or should I buy a third battery?

Don't think I'd be hooking up a 12v accessory to a 24v system.

Yes you can hook up your electronics to just one battery. see diagram below. Just be aware that you can drain the one battery faster.

Ok, thats what I was thinking. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't over looking something. I will probably buy a third battery this spring, but wanted to get through the winter with what I have.

Running the TM and big motor off the same batteries is going to make starting the big motor suspect towards the end off the day.

Also if you are replacing a 12V motor and have a plug check the plug, you may have to change the wiring of the plug for 24V to pass through.

A Trollbridge24 will let you charge your 24 volt battery from the 12 volt alternator in your motor and it also equalizes the two batteries so they discharge evenly when running 12 volt items off one battery.
