Is there anyone that is familiar with lowrance fish finders??  I have some questions regarding units and wiring.

I have a Triton TR-20 2003. Well I have a LCX-17m and can not get it to work with the Lowrance thru hull transducer that is origanal with the boat.  Wondering if the transducer is not compatible with the LCX-17M??  Need help..

If it will hook up then it should be compatible. Tell us more about what is going on so we may have an idea of your problem.

What unit was there before the 17?

Well I believe it was the Lowrance X87.  Ok here we go-When I bought the boat over a year ago it had the X87 in the front and LCX17m in the back (drive console). The transducer for the LCX17 is mounted on my jackplate.  Having issues with the location of the transducer.  Anyway spoke with Triton and they said with the design of the hull we recommend the thu hull Transducer which is already installed.  K so I hooked up the thru hull transducer to the LCX17 and can hear the thru hull transducer clicking... Is that the only way I can tell if its working with out taking it to the lake?

If the shoot thru is clicking, then it is working, BUT the Lowrance web site does not show an available transducer that works with the X87.

Your next problem is an on-the-water test to see if the shoot thru is installed correctly as far as location and a solid attachment to the hull for on plane use.

Do you use the shoot thru with the bow mounted X87 or do you use a trolling motor transducer with it?

Thanks Wayne.  Going to try it out Thursday...  Here in California we fish from shoreline to 30-50ft..  We fish in deep clear reservoirs.  need the fish finder working properly. I think I finally have it figured out...
