rtwvumtneer6 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I've seen a lot of posts on the Ark Lancer Pro rods, and I've used them on guide trips, but does anyone know why they've been on sale for months now? I expected a new model release but I'm starting to think they are liquidating them... I'm looking to buy a couple rods to keep in Florida for our annual trip. If it were a rod I used often I'd go with the Tharpe series but these will get used 3-4 days a year. Should I be cautious of the Lancer Pro? Quote
a1712 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I can't speak highly enough about the Lancer Pro's. I purchased 2 of the Hvy/Fast for frogs/pitching/flipping in Florida. The reason was, if I grenade a rod in the thick and it cost $300-400 I'm upset, if it was $79 who cares. Turns out they're fantastic, powerful, sensitive, tough etc.. My Bud used one pitching for the day and ordered 2 for himself when we got back to our Hotel that night, think they were BOGO. I also purchased a mh/fast spinning rod and I honestly will put it up against any $250 rod. When you can feel concrete pipe with a 1/8oz. LEAD jig head that's saying something. Brian. 2 1 Quote
JackstrawIII Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I appreciate this thread. I too have been eyeballing these rods for a while but was skeptical due to the ongoing BOGO deals everywhere. Looking forward to hearing more feedback. 1 Quote
Drew03cmc Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 I have 4 of them. 6'10" MM, 7'3" MHF, 6'10" MLXF spin and 7'1" MXF spin. I really like them. The 6'10" MM is a fantastic topwater, jerkbait and finesse swimbait rod. 3 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted October 15, 2022 Super User Posted October 15, 2022 Heckuva lotta rod for the money at full price, let alone the BOGO deals going on. 2 Quote

Better quality seat and Fuji K Series guides are worth the extra $30 IMO. I've had no issues with my Lancer or Cobb rods though. I think the Tharps offer the best value in the Ark lineup. 1 Quote

Makes sense. Either way I win lol. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted October 21, 2022 Author Posted October 21, 2022 I've got to circle back to this... How would you describe Ark's "Mag" rating? The 7'2 MH/MF, 7'3 Mag MH/F and 7'6 MH/F are all rated 1/4-1oz. Or, keep it simple. What is the 7'3 mag MH capable of, and not capable of? Quote
a1712 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I have 3 Money Makers and 2 Hammers. I would rate them on the heavy side of MH. They are perfect for my use in FL., a bit heavy for my use in PA. Obviously the bass in FL are bigger than my PA bass and the cover(grass) is more in FL. On the Big O the reels are filled with 50lb Braid, off the lake, the spools get swapped out to 14lb Fluoro and 15lb copoly. After 30+ years of fishing Florida 2 months a year these are the best setups I've put together and have zero reasons to change. Brian. The 2 Lancer Pro Hvy/Fast are spooled with 65lb Braid and that never changes. 1 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 @Drew03cmc @T-Billy @Mike L So my buddy beat me to the punch and bought the BOGO lancer pro direct from ark to keep in Florida. I got my hands on it and turned around and bought myself a Tharp Money Maker for here at home. $99 after tax with TW black Friday +10%... No brainer. 2 Quote
