Thousands of ice anglers have descended upon Upper Red Lake just north of Bemidji the past few days.

And that's not a small lake - I fished it a few times when I lived in Bemidji.

This happens every year out there.  And on Lake Superior.  200 people are stuck on a floating ice sheet.  When they get rescued, they aren't allowed to take their gear back either.

Reap what you sow people.

I got about 5 inches.  That map indicates 3.8 in Plymouth and 5.7 in Maple Grove and I'm kind of right in between those.

Every snowflake or rain drop will be beneficial in the long run for the drought.  Hard to tell we're still in an extreme drought status right now.

10 day forecast minus the next 2 days has highs in the 30's and lows in the teens. I'm headed to Disney next week. Highs mid 80's and sunny, lows in the 60's

40’s yesterday, 29 today with 35 mph wind gusts that put the windchill in the mid teens. That wind was absolutely brutal and chewed right through me. ?

So I notice today that the long range maps keep moderating from previous forecasts.  Guess I'm watching too many U-Tube meteorologists that keep the clicks coming on drama. I'm getting stronger and more mobile every day from my surgery, have no schedule, so I guess I'm going to have to fish. Tough life, huh?

Callin for 5+ inches today. I have about 35 houses on the schedule so I’ll be working all night.

Our forecast is rain\freezing rain with temps right around or below freezing for the next 2 days with wind gusts up to 40mph-Transitioning to snow Wednesday Thursday . Totals for snow for us look only like 2-3 inches but icy roads and high winds blowing the snow will make for some fun driving conditions.

They will be measuring snow in feet on the north shore when this is done.  Buffalo, NY style.

I got some rain, then some sleet, followed by an inch of the heavy wet heart attack snow last night.  I tried snow blowing it, and it came out like ketchup.  Guess it will be the shovel today instead.

The local weather station just NW of Two Harbors, MN has reported 27 inches of snow as of 9:25am central time.

I've probably got another 2-3 inches here and its the heavy wet crap that is miserable to try and move.

Absolutely.  Every drop of rain or snow flake that falls, even if its 3 feet at once, is beneficial in the long run.

We lucked out here in northern Virginia but not by much.  Ice line about 20 miles up towards the mountains from me.  Good deal because I have to go get the wife from the airport in about an hour.

Finally getting into what for this neck of the woods

is a normal December winter weather pattern.

8 out the next 10 days include snow.

Some days more, some days less.

But the air temps are such that whatever we get,

will most likely be around for a while.

Living in northern Michigan and "we like it that way."
