It's going to be 20 tonight, with a high of 32 tomorrow.

@Glenn Thats interesting considering were scheduled to have our warmest day of the 'winter' so far today with a high of 81 degrees! Fiance and I are greatly looking forward to it and have a nice evening planned involving the outdoors.

The sad part is Saturday its going back down in the 20's, with snow sleet and rain.

A few inches of snow and ice predicted for last night turned into 1 solid inch of crusty icy snow. Not fun with a shovel or a blower. And the next few days will be some of the coldest of the winter. Just when I was starting to gear up for an early ice out :(

We're getting a little hammered with cold & snow.

Several inches yesterday & overnight with more expected all day today.

The clean up operations with not commence until Fri/Sat.

In the mean time, we'll just wade through it best we can.

Another round of snow coming next week.

Getting more snow later in the winter this time around.

I'll try and snap a pic while I'm out with the dogs this morning.

Thankfully the freezing rain stayed well south of us. We got about 3” of sleet is all.

I received another 8 inches or snow overnight.  Its kind of hard to tell exactly with all the drifting and wind.  40 miles north of me recorded 13.5 inches, that was the highest total I saw so far.

Initially, some of the weather terrorists predicted up to 2 feet from this event.  I'll probably end up with about half that.

And next week its supposed to be back in the 30's, so the melting will resume.  Certainly helps with the drought in the long run.

Ya - all totaled I got about 10" in the backyard from this starting Tuesday.

The official tally at MSP/Twin Cities is 13.1 inches.  That puts us at 73.5 inches this winter so far, which is good for the 17th snowiest winter on record.  The average is 51 inches here.  We blew right past that.

The record is 98.6 inches, which was in 1983-1984.

Additionally, some precipitation this winter has fallen as rain.  Most notably, last Tuesday, 2/14/23, when over an inch of rain fell.  Had that been snow, we'd be quite a bit closer to the record.  Another system on Monday may fall as mostly or all rain.

Stay tuned.

Whoo-hoo - finally crept above zero this morning (it was -7 when I woke up).

Now I get to go outside and start digging the truck out.

A lovely mix of rain and sleet coming down here this morning.  My driveway is a skating rink.

My parking slot has been a rink since the melting earlier - gravel so it's kind of hard to chip and scrape.

I could do that here right now, but I’d need one of these

No school today due to ice and no school tomorrow due to power outages. Three of the last four have been canceled. They’re out of snow days now. At the pace they’re going, they’ll be in school until the end of June. ?

When does the year normally end there? Our school year has always gone to the end of June here. We’ve also had a ton of snow days, at least one every single week this winter, but they don’t add extra days on at the end.

Most districts here now do e-learning when there is a "snow day."  The kids are upset because in the past a snow meant outdoor fun.  Now it means learning via the web.

Some rural districts may not be fully capable of doing e-learning so in those cases there is an actual snow day with zero education.  I believe those districts have 5 snow days built into their academic calendar and if they go beyond that, they have to extend the year further into June.  When I was in school, we always finished around the first week of June.

It may also depend on when they started too, obviously.  I never started before Labor Day, but a fair number of districts do now.

Ya, ours started the Wednesday after Labor Day - a day to 'recover'. Snow days were a rarity when I was in school - and this was up in Bemidji...go figure.

It's 100% Spring here, has been for a week or two.    Bass are spawning, had to go to my high end store yesterday to pick their brains, and they said no doubt the fish are spawning.    My catch results have plummeted like a lead balloon.

Pollen is terrible, buds and blooms everywhere, grass is greening up, haven't had a day in the 50s for weeks, overnight temps are in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

I MISS WINTER SO MUCH ALREADY ?
