Mr. Aquarium Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I love fishing big baits looking for the bigger fish. Has anyone tried bigger jerkbaits in the cold water season? I’m still working on my jerkbait skills i was looking at the Megabass Kantana Quote

Heavier hooks make it not rise as much 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 14, 2022 Super User Posted October 14, 2022 Bigger baits catch bigger fish! Additionally, by the fall the baitfish are bigger so you can get away with bigger jerkbaits. Allen 1 Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted October 14, 2022 Author Posted October 14, 2022 I do well fall, winter and spring on swimbaits. So maybe a bigger jerkbait should be added to my arsenal. When I mean cold, I’m in Massachusetts so it gets pretty cold Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 14, 2022 Super User Posted October 14, 2022 I have always had much better success with larger jerk baits for quality smallmouth. I prefer 3/4 oz & 1 oz baits as my go to. 3 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 14, 2022 Super User Posted October 14, 2022 I have not tried the Kantana yet but I have had good luck with the Vision 110 Max LBO. Mat Shad has been favorite color in this bigger bait. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted October 14, 2022 Super User Posted October 14, 2022 LC 128 accounted for my first Brown bass over 6 lbs. American Shad I do believe. (Box on the left) A-Jay 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 14, 2022 Global Moderator Posted October 14, 2022 I have really good success with a 127 MR Slender Pointer, almost as big as the 128 pointer. 2 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted October 14, 2022 Super User Posted October 14, 2022 I fish my jerkbaits much like a crankbait when I’m fishing them. Not the jerkbait fisherman y’all are. But the upsizing thing makes sense. I fish a Shad Rap all season, cool water and warm water. I’m throwing bigger now for the same reason. My season is winding down and I’m fishing for the bigger one. 1 Quote
00bullitt Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Ito Shiner for me! Casts a mile and typically entices one of the bigger spots out of the school. 1 Quote
Drew03cmc Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 I have 2 Duo 120s and 2 LiveTargets that are both in the 5" range. I need to give them a shot. 1 Quote
KP Duty Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 If you want BIG, Daiwa makes a 6.75" salt pro minnow. https://www.sierra.com/daiwa-salt-pro-minnow-lure-675~p~91fkf/ 2 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted October 15, 2022 Super User Posted October 15, 2022 I took a couple of LC Pointer 158's to Mexico last trip. We have had solid success with the 128 previously so . . . . . Bigger is better right ? No bites for me with it. And this thing is Huge. Have your Wheaties in advance of 'working' this one. A-Jay Quote
