Hey guys, crazy question here. I have a Zoom WEC JZ in chartreuse black back and was wondering if anyone can fill me in on colors that were made, possible years they were made and if they were made for the US market. I heard a rumor it was made for the Japanese market. Really any info helps at this point.

Here is what I have, but I don't have the box.

I didnt know Zoom made a bait like that . It has a strong resemblance to  Bagleys .

Just googled it , they are selling for a pretty penny .

The late Ed Chambers, owner of Zoom, made the WEC balsa baits. Arguably some of the best. Cliff Pace (black label balsa) bought a handful of Ed's replicators and produces baits similar to the WEC line.

The JZ bait, while rare and yes were US made, is more of a collectors item than sought after like the E-1 and Mutt/Hickey foils. Colors and dates can vary on Ed's baits because he would make some limited runs here and there or one offs of people.  OP, if that was you on WBN asking about this bait and Cliff was offering to buy it, I would take him up on the offer if you aren't planning on fishing it. The WEC stumpy is a much better bait action wise than the JZ and easier to find if you lose one.

Was definitely me. I am wanting to find more of these to put in a display. I love the body shape. Also, Cliff makes a bait that's  very similar to the Z-100, which uses the same body.

From what I understand Ed Chambers would sit down every year and just make what he wanted. Baits and colors were whatever he felt like making.

I'm torn on whether to fish my WEC collection or just keep them stowed away.
