H2O Xpress squarebill in bluegill.  It does well, it swims shallow so it doesn't get hung up on stuff, and if the fish won't bite for anything I can imagine with all its resistance and wobble that I have a fish on.   I can go into a seriously pleasant trance as I cast and retrieve this lure, cast and retrieve, cast and retrieve.

As long as I have just a little bit of open water in a spillway and my line isnt freezing on the spool I'm very confident in beating the skunk.

Haha, just bought another 3 MiniMaxs after lunch.      The 3/8th in Gizzard Shad has been killing it for me with the fall turnover and threadfin size.   One of more under the radar baits for sure.   It sells big time though so people just aren't talking about it openly.

These are just dynamite baits.     The snap needs to be changed on them, as they still pull the big fish like their bigger counterparts.

I searched around for a couple weeks trying to find the Bluegill 3/8 oz size recently lol.  What trailers are you using?  I been using the new 3in zakos but wanted to try some other options.

Lol, I wanted to grab that color at TW with my recent order....no bueno, my local shop today, no bueno.

Anyways I've done some trial and error with trailers, and unlike bigger ones, these are very temperamental to get on plane if you are using something longer than 3" I've found, and if it has a strong action like most paddletails, that equally messes up the action I've found.

The Armor Shad 3" is dynamite I've found.    Won't look like much, but that's the mission with these after all.   Big fish will still blow up such a tiny bait.   Caught a fattie on the gizzard shad with 3" Armor Shad a few days back

Although I go weeks at a time fishing other stuff if I had to pick one bait only it would be a texas rigged motoroil worm.

I love trying new baits but if nothing is working that's when I throw on a 3/0 ewg hook and a weight less senko. It's like cheating but hooks them everytime.

1/16 oz Rooster Tail, or a 1-1/2" Rapala Original Floating Minnow.

Not a bait, but a d/s is my go - to. Shad shape or minnow in cold water, worm in warm. A spinnerbait gets wet every time out also.

My Anytime Anywhere Black-purple-Brown hair jig w/ reddish brown pork trailer. Caught bass in nearly every state on this jig plus 4 of my 5 PB bass listed.

If I need to catch bass the Slip Shot rig gets it done with 5” finesse worm in Purple Thunder or Oxblood lt red flake.

5” Senko wacky weedless weightless #301.

Top water Balsa Sammy Shad color.
