Super User Jig Man Posted October 11, 2022 Super User Posted October 11, 2022 I’ve tried some of my Ned setups and they don’t cut it. I am fishing lay downs and need to keep the boat farther out than the tree tops but still almost reach the bank. I looked at Bass Pro today and only got confused. Quote
Eric 26 Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Search the internet for B&M rods, they have a huge variety made for crappie fishing. 1 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 I use 7' ML 1/16-3/8 and it works well enough to throw a 1/16 with crappie sized plastics 40-50ft. Use the lightest braid you can get away with on a 2500 or 3k reel with a round limp braid like, J braid Grand or Berkley x9 in 6 or 8lb. Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted October 21, 2022 Super User Posted October 21, 2022 BPS Panfish Elite is one heck of a crappie rod for the $$$. 2 Quote

Kyle S Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Shimano Sensilite is my preferred panfish rod. Specifically the 6'-6" UL model. I own 3 or 4 of them. Fantastic rods for casting and reeling jigs. I also own a B&M TCB series rod, which is a little soft for my liking but still a nice rod all things considered. Dobyns has a trout/panfish series of rods in their Sierra lineup. I own the 6'6" UL as well...or at least I did until i thought it was a good idea to boat flip a 1lb largemouth with it...Great rod but a little pricey IMO I've fondled a couple of B&M rods at my local academy sports. B&M certainly does have some options as far as lengths, powers and actions are concerned. That BPS panfish Elite also looks pretty nice... I hope you find a rod that suits your needs. What rod have you currently been using? 1 Quote
Luke Barnes Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 If you are on a budget, I bought a Shakespeare Crappie Hunter 9' jigging rod and it works for what it is supposed to. I bought the combo for about $20 and haven't had an issue with it. Quote
Dreveal Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 I have a Cashion crappie rod that has quickly become my favorite. Also have a TFO panfish rod that I like pretty well too. Quote
