A big striper stripping line off a zillion hd or  sv tw sounds like a fever dream with the clicking drag ?. I wouldnt mind being a bit undergunned fighting striper, over at Texoma, average size is about 18 inches and biggest ive seen in person was about 32 inches. If any of the zillions have brass gears, that would be a bonus aswell.

For the size you're talking, any bass reel will get it done.  Hybrids are fast and pull hard, but they aren't so big that they break gear.  This one was on a 7' MH/MF with 12 lb p-line and was landed in about 3 minutes.  It was 26" and around the 7-8 lb mark.  We have a couple lakes with them up here.  If your primary use is bass with the occasional stripers, I wouldn't worry about any of the reels mentioned in this thread.

If all of the reels are fine for these stripers/hybrids of this size, i still am wondering what i should get. Zillion sv tw and hd are extremely nice with clicking drags (which i am a sucker for), curado 150 mgl, bb1 pro, jdm bantam, curado k, and tranx 150/200

I know guys who fish everyday when the stripers run in NY and they catch bass over 30" all the time with Tatula 150s.  As far as line line capacity goes, I dont see the 200 as being necessary especially for landlocked bass.  Personally I would recommend a longer handle with decent sized knobs to give you a little more leverage.  Daiwa does offer the coastal reels that have a 100 sized frame with a 150 size SV spool.  They're really popular with the flounder guys who jig all day because they're small and light.

If the handle is an issue for me, There are handle upgrades i can get in the long run such as those monstrous gomexus handles. But the zillion sv tw has been floating around in my head. sv spool should cost me some distance, but it is an sv boost and the casting is so carefree i could just throw it more carelessy.

 If that's the size your talking about any of them will do fine.  Like most fisherman, my eyes measure things bigger than they are but it is not uncommon to catch them this size from time to time here in Indiana.... not me, by the way. Stole it from a striper guides website.

the thought of drag peeling is taking over me. Looking into the jdm zillions and bb1 pro. i can get a new bb1 pro for $170 (not including tax) and the zillion sv tw for about $230 and the zillion tw hd for $280. Hmm ?

So you have narrowed it down to three reels. What rod are you going to put it on and what baits you are going to throw?

Yeah I'm not talking about jigging handles with counter weights or anything.  A 90mm with a knob a little more substantial then the I knobs that come on the JDM would Metanium would be ideal.  The handle and knobs on the curado or SLX DC are perfect.  The only hang up with the JDM zillion for me is the AL main and the serviceability issues Daiwa has with JDM reels.  The AL main isnt that big of a deal I just prefer brass for the plugs and bigger baits I throw for stripers.  If you arent throwing baits over 1oz and the majorty of bass youre catching are schoolies then AL is fine.  That Zillion is a beatiful little reel too.  I got to fondle one for the first time yesterday at Tackle Direct.  If I wasnt there for a new surf rod and half a herd worth of bucktails I would have bought one.

falcon cara 7’4” heavy fast and planning on throwing heavier standard bass lures like t rigs, jigs, spinner/chatterbaits, etc. But for stripers im throwing usually some sort of open faced jighead, 1/2-1oz with 5” fluke/swimbait trailer.

Yea, the serviceability on the jdm daiwas is slightly concerning+the al gear but i do want to throw MAX 1oz jigheads with fluke trailers. is the zillion hd aluminum or brass? Also when i looked into the bb1 pros gears, it stated “hard anodized ALUMINUM” gears, which slightly concerns me; but then again i can get it serviced relatively easy because it is usdm.

Not really. Any shop that knows what they're doing can order JDM parts. Warranty is the issue, but few reels require service requiring parts during the warranty period anyway.

that fish is 26"?  how big are your feet?!

 

I really want to catch a hybrid.  I heard they fight like freight trains.   a white bass is a blast of explosive energy but it putters out fairly quickly.

I am currently researching a peacock bass fish in the Amazon.  the first person I contacted suggested a MH rod with a 2500 series spinning reel.  all for 20lb peacock!!!  the screaming drag will be dang exciting.   none of my Texoma catches left me feeling outgunned.  I went in imagining a "battle Royale". nope.  "battle regular".

Hybrids are great when you get on them. The first half of the fight is like a smallmouth. The second half like a big tired largemouth.

I’d go either zillion or bantam depending on your preferences. The extra weight of the bantam won’t matter on a rod that weight and length. I have the zillion on that rod now but a 2oz heavier reel wouldn’t be bad either.

Jdm bantam i also want alot, but i dont know if it has brass gearing like the zillion tw hd. bantam also doesnt have a clicking drag. bb1 pro doesnt seem to have brass gears, but its so cheap ($170) and is usdm, helping with service and warranty issues. If the jdm bantam has brass gears, i’ll probably add it onto my “considering” list.

Late to the party, but if OP has $200 budget for a 150 size sturdy reel, why not try to the new JDM 22 Bantam? It's probably the strongest and most powerful low profile baitcaster Shimano has ever made, it's small in form yet holds more line than the Metanium, it casts as well as the Metanium, and its aluminum frame is suitable for salt water. Forget the "lousy" 20% discount on BB1 Pro, the JDM Bantam is about 40% off right now.  I am a Daiwa fan, and I couldn't think of a more suitable reel on the market right now for the tasks OP describes. Maybe a TD-Z or a SV103,  aka "my precious."

 

As for a clicking drag, IMO it's a nice thing to have, but it's more like a novelty as DC brakes - I forgot about it after awhile.

the 22 bantam definitely is a contender for me. But i dont know why the lower gear ratios costs slightly more. i kind of want to maximize my budget but i want a slower gear ratio, hg at most, because getting into those “zombie” trances causes me to reel faster than normal, and a slower gear ratio helps put with that.

Like you said, search around and you'll find better deals. For example, jpangler.com has 6.2 right-handed Bantam for $206. Also, JDM sites don't charge tax.

Does that factor in shipping too? because i looked into amazon japan and the see that the prices are definitely lower than digitaka but have around $15 shipping fee. I guess it is cheaper, but i have some points  (about 700) i could put into the bantam. Plus, digitaka has awesome service and extremely fast shipping.
