I heard this statement today and it made an impact on me.

” Humble people don’t think less of themselves, they just think of themselves less”

What’s yours?

Always loved this one by Isaac Asimov

FDR " a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor".

Puts trials and tribulations into perspective...helps you recognize them as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

My childhood friends and I would always repeat this if someone called us an unpleasant name or made fun of us back in 60,s.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

I don't know who said this first, but these are words I live by.

Being honest & self-aware is frightening & hard, but it's real.

Can help keep a man present & grounded.

Give a man a fish you feed him for a day...teach a man to fish and he will be divorced in a year.

“Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.”

Gist: Be preprared.

I don’t know who made it up originally but I arrived at this on my own when I was a kid. However, I know I can’t possibly be the one to have coined it. It’s too obvious a thing.

Now I did coin a phrase just this year. I laid pavers and extended my patio because my wife wanted this done. Over 6000 pounds of sand and gravel, yada yada and got it done.

I used to call it extending my fishing liberties, but that was a grueling project and now call it earning “spousal credit.”

My buddy busted out laughing so hard and after he saw the patio, he told me, “Dang. I’d say you earned enough spousal credit to last well into next year,” lol.

Common sense is a curse, not a blessing because those who have common sense have to deal those that have not.

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

That was job security for me for just shy of 3 decades.

- When you are dead, you don't know you're dead.  It is only sucks for others.  It is the same if you are stupid.
