i am going out of town to take care of my convalescing mom.   it wont be a "Good time".

to load up mental health points: i will fish tomorrow and Sat.  i want to hit the Delta Sat, but it would be a solo trip.  fishing reports are bleak.  tide is janky.  super low tide at 10:00 am.  at least there is no wind :)  gah..such a tough decision.

i'll fish a local lake everyone has been avoiding cuz it sucks..and see if the action picked up tomorrow.  right down the street from my home.

so tough.  hard to risk a 2 hour drive for tough conditions.

sorry to hear about your mom... does the full moon help you out on the weekend? it happens on the 10th.  i was at my lake, temescal, and there was a lot more activity (probably bluegill).  i was wondering if that was because of the upcoming full....

I decided to pass.  my local delta guy told me fishing has been tough!!!

I just dont do well on a Full Moon in general, but I do realize it plays a different role in the Delta.  it exaggerates the tides, and that I think is a good thing (?)

idk about lmb... but for bluegill in summer, they are on bed on full moons - that's my understanding... i haven't even seen this yet. this guy in alabama, richard gene on youtube, claims he can smell them on bed. i guess i believe him...

definitely... i don't go for bass there, but a guy i just saw said he got a 2 pounder... another guy said there are some big ones there. but i don't see that many people going for lmb there. i think it's not that great 4 that. more catfish, etc... which they stock, at least in summer, catfish, winter, trout.

some kid caught two giants out of there a year or two ago. I cant say for sure but I would say they were caught elsewhere and put in there illegally and then fished for. I tired fishing it for bass back in like 2015 and didn't ever catch anything.  Someone was stocking the pond above the Orinda golf course and there were some biggs in there.  Same sort of deal I would imagine.  Found it randomly and decided to try it. Would consistently catch fish 3-5lbs and had one over 8 and possibly one even larger that broke off right at the bank. That was like 6+ years ago and last I remember someone had been catching them and tossing up on the bank to keep people from fishing it. There are no fishing signs but they are illegitimate so just ignore them.

Tides (and tides with winds and/or current) are awe inspiring.  I mostly enjoy the challenge of fishing tidal rivers.  It is a fairly predictable variable added....one which bass react to in often unpredictable ways.   But just witnessing the power and volume moving across and through massive bodies of water is always impressive.

I once launched near Franks' tract.  in my opinion, a very intimidating section with the current.

my friend got left behind and I went back to look. he was spinning around and around in a whirlpool. laughing.  he said, "now I know what a turd feels like in a toilet".

he paddled out and we went back to fishing.    I would have casted near that whirlpool, just in case.  I think bass like current for the most part.

There's a short stretch in a Potomac trib here where incoming tide and outgoing current barely mix; you can be floating south and three feet away, the water is moving north...not easy to fish, but very cool to watch
