I have 2 706's and a 786 in the first strike series. They are IM blanks. Both models are a little bit tip heavy, but I still really like them. All my rods were purchased in 2015 though (except the delta), and I'm sure they have been tweaked since then. I have limited experience. I have an IM custom that I like and had a Xray but managed to break it the first day I had it. I also have a delta blank but never got around to building it. I want a rod with one of their top end blanks and maybe a cranking rod. I will probably call them and get the rundown of exactly what lines of rods use what blanks. 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted January 11, 2023 Super User Posted January 11, 2023 My first experience with Edgerods. I ordered a single rod Epitome MBR 725-1C August 14th 2022. I never contacted them regarding the build date or shipping estimate. I received an email yesterday that it shipped 1/10/2023 and should be delivered 1/16/2023 by FedEx. I'll update after I receive it next week. 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 8, 2023 Super User Posted June 8, 2023 @Gnarwhal I have paired the MBR 725-1C with a Shimano metanium mgl. The rod by itself is light as a feather and with the reel it's still extremely light in hand. It balances right in front of the locking nut of the reel seat. I have used it with flukes fishing for largemouth & also with hard jerk baits up to an ounce in weight. The 1st fish I caught using it was 6lb largemouth using a weedless rigged fluke. It has plenty of backbone for hook setting weedless rigged plastic baits. The tip has just enough flex to keep treble hooked smallies pinned. I am extremely happy with it's performance so far. My only criticism is when using a back to back uni knot connecting light braid to mono leader the knot wants to hang up at the tip top necessitating a shorter leader than I had originally planned. 1 1 Quote

FellowAnglers1 Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Bought a first strike and two silver widow during their spring 45 percent off sale. Sold the mh first strike and light silver widow. I kept the heavy 736-1 silver widow. The first strike I got is sensitive and look decent but feel tip heavy. The light silver widow is to wobbly for my taste. I Sold these two rods and purchase a 872 nrx+. Quote
