Fishydishy Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I am sure a lot of us know the Tatula sv can be noisy. I can’t remember how mine was out of the box, but it’s been really noisy recently, and I did a deep clean and applied a little but if lube to the internal parts. However, it’s still noisy, if not worse. my question is what makes it noisy? The gears? Are the Tatula gears interchangeable with say the steez or zillion? Would it be quiet if i was able to do a gear swap with the steez or zillion gears, if possible? Quote
Tatulatard Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 No, you need tatula gears. The problem could also be a bearing on the pinion gear or crank shaft. You would need to remove them and inspect or just replace them as a service item. Quote
garroyo130 Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I'd check bearings first. Try indexing the gears too (probably not the right term, but just move them around to diff positions). *Edit that may just be spinning. Quote
Revival Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Out of curiosity, do you have the 2017 or 2020 SV? Is it noisy during the cast or during the retrieve? I seen a video where this guys Tatula SV was making a crazy noise while casting and he said it was making that noise out of the box. I’ve had a bunch of the 2017 models in the past and none of them made that noise. Quote
newapti5 Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Like fixing a car, a vague description of "noice" usually won't help much locating the culprit. You'll need to be more specific, or just send it to professionals like DVT here to save time. 2 Quote
ErieCan Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Do you mean the rattle (that's normal... Loose tolerances) or are you getting gear grind noise? Quote
papajoe222 Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 If you have a reel that never had noise and has developed it, something is either worn, or loose. Bearings normally wear over time, so noise from them would have started out faint and gotten louder with time. Brass gears will wear over time, too. Again, it isn't a noise here today that wasn't there yesterday. If that's what happened, something broke or a spring failed somewhere. Quote
