This topic has probably been created a million times already, sorry. I have a couple new Buckeye G-man ballin' out finesse jigs that have a 4/0 hook and I've started to think about trailers for them. I have been using regular rage menace grubs with about 3/4" cut off but I'm wondering if there is a better option that I don't have to modify and has a little more subtle action. I'm looking for a small thin profile about 3" long. Suggestions?

A small ribbon tail worm makes a good finesse jig trailer. I may cut an 1” off. Rage Baby Craws are good as well, but that’s a very similar in action to a Menace. My number one finesse jig trailer though is half of a Rage Menace like you mentioned.

Zoom chunk jr!

You don’t always need a lot of movement. Try it, you will be surprised how effective it is.

You get less action if you leave the tail stuck together

Interesting, I've never thought of this before....I will definitely have to give it a try

That's a pretty big hook for a finesse jig; I think my go-tos have a 3/0 tops.  I use a Paca chunk or a Missle double-tailed grub (I think it's called the Twin Turbo).  I've been wanting to try a Baby Rage Craw, but I've got several bags of the others, and they work.

I’ve been doing really well with a Missle Mini D Chunk on a finesse jig lately.

Tried and true are super chunk Jr and 3" chigger craw. Best new trailer is the new Missle baits one that I forgot the name of.

TRD's, and the Big Bite Baits 3'' Yo Mama are really the only two trailers I use on finesse jigs.  Mostly I use the Green Pumpkin Goby on Dark Watermelon, and Orange Swirl on a Dark Green Pumpkin jig.

Im getting to the point where I'm thinking any color TRD is the best trailer for any finesse jig, especially if you are targeting Smallmouth.

I use this jig for 80% of my fishing, and almost all my fish have been caught on a Zoom Z-craw jr with the first 3 ribs cut off. In colder water I will go to a smallie beaver, in hotter water i use a yamamoto double tail grub.  Good luck!
