Even if someone would have asked me nicely in that situation, I'd have a problem with it. If you buy a license and are on public water, anyone has the right to fish there whether they are you, a grand daughter, or a 90 year old senior citizen. No public spot is "saved" for their grand daughter, grand son, best friend, neighbor, co-worker, or whoever. Get there first and fish it. I used to get fired up at the public access when I was younger. I had very little patience for people who dicked around or clearly were taking way too long when others were waiting and I'd bark at them. I don't do that anymore. Not worth it. I just patiently wait my turn now. The most recent incident I can recall was several years ago when I was motoring through a no-wake narrow channel zone to the access. It was surrounded by lily pads too. A lakeshore owner with his pontoon was behind me. He literally went through the minefield of lily pads to get around me and beat me to the access point. When he got there, he took way too long to load up his pontoon. And when he finally got loaded up, he didn't pull all the way out of the access with his truck. We had words shortly thereafter. 1 Quote

But Ive got to the point now that I’m not going to let something like that ruin my day. Got plenty of spots to fish besides that one… 1 Quote

I just wanted to point out that just because someone has a grand daughter who likes to fish a spot, doesn't mean you can't fish it too. 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 29, 2022 Super User Posted September 29, 2022 Right after that I thought about sneaking back to catch all the bream at his dock but decided that wasnt a good option. Somebody’s got to be the adult… I still go by his dock regularly( the incident happened 10 years or so ago ), and have never once seen any grandkids there. 1 Quote

I would have seriously setup like 10 cane poles and anchored right off the end of his dock ? 2 Quote

thediscochef Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 one of the few advantages to bank angling at state parks...nobody owns the water and if someone gets mad at you for fishing, they're wrong unless you started casting them down. It makes it much easier, much less entitlement to the water. Furthermore there's big bass all over the reservoirs down here, no need for a confrontation. It's not that serious. 1 Quote
ScottW Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 I suppose if the property owner asked nicely I’d be nice and leave. However, if they acted like the ‘Karen’ in the OP’s video I can’t promise my reaction would be polite. My tolerance for stupid self-entitled people is seriously diminished after years of working in customer service for various web hosting companies. ? 3 Quote

This is the second time I've posted a vid with a pro in it where someone here felt the need to chime in with an off topic implication about how this pro really isn't a "good guy", or something to that effect, and even with your disclaimers, that's what you've done. It's called threadcrapping, and personally, I think it's an odd impulse. But hey, you do you. Love and kisses. I didn’t “thread crap” as you like to call it. The person in the vid is Ike and although I agreed he was in the right, it’s relevant to point out he has had his moments. I’ve seen a lot of blind pro defense no matter what they do and it’s called leg humping. I assume your his neighbor so give your love and kisses to him. I prefer women. 2 Quote

One situation has nothing to do with the other, so pointing it out is pointless, unless you just want to stink up a thread. 17 minutes ago, TOXIC said: I’ve seen a lot of blind pro defense no matter what they do and it’s called leg humping. Thanks for reminding us that he's been imperfect and that perhaps he doesn't really have the standing to talk back because of KVD and blowing up grass lines... 18 minutes ago, TOXIC said: I prefer women. Super User JustJames Posted September 30, 2022 Super User Posted September 30, 2022 There is always two sides of coin. I live in fishing community lake so I have seen them a lot. First about video, Ike was doing the right thing, moved when asked at first but the lady didn’t stop and threatened to call the cops. Now home owner especially the one don’t fish, how do they feel get up in the morning and see paint damage from those weight, cover, seat get hook all over. Admittedly all fisherman are not the same, some respect other belonging but a lot just wanna catch fish and don’t care about others, like those that think public water I can fish anywhere and don’t care about home owner’s dock. I have found hook, cut bait, dead fish, fishing line and trash all over fishing spot, one time we walked our dog in the park (dog allowed park) and found treble hook on his paws, luckily he has long fur so no damage into his skin. 1 Quote
RB 77 Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 While I generally find Ikes antics insufferable, I definitely find "Karens" antics much worse! 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted October 2, 2022 Super User Posted October 2, 2022 I avoid docks like the plague. Admittedly I might miss some fish that hang out underneath them but I avoid accidentally damaging others property and potential arguments. Fishermen give Fishermen a bad name. For example when I shore fish I leave no trace. My fellow fishermen however leave line, hooks, broken lures, worm and chicken liver cups, etc. Same is said for dock fishing. No matter how respectful and accurate you might be the last weekend warrior that cruised by ripped a boat cover, chipped some paint, left hooks and line behind after getting hung up, etc. 1 Quote
Motoboss Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 I fish every dock I come across. Last time I banged a spinnerblade off a dock was more than 15 years ago while night fishing for smallies. I respect folks property but if it’s sticking out in the water, it’s fair game. Had a guy at the lake one time believe his property lines extended all the way to the center of the lake. Sorry, not! Super User Bird Posted October 7, 2022 Super User Posted October 7, 2022 Bass love docks and I love skipping docks but if the residents are occuping their dock, I simply avoid that dock and move to next one. I never waste my time with " Karen's " but find the various videos entertaining. Wife's favorite song......God is great, beer is good and people are crazy. ? Quote

A lot of our property deeds do actually allow people to own halfway across the water. Only problem is they own the bottom and I’m not standing on the bottom, I’m standing on a boat 1 Quote
throttleplate Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 This conversation reminds me of when i lived in california and i would take my metal detector down to the nude beaches to detect. The nude beaches were the best to detect because most folks put all their jewelry on their towell and then when they get up they forget and shake the sand out of the towell and loose it all in the sand. I was detecting all around the nudies, hey now, they dont own the sand they are laying on so what could they say to me? Call me a perv? Well no one did and some girls sat up and asked me what i was looking for and i explained to them about the jewelry. Oh and i was wearing shorts and t-shirt. Quote
