He handled that better than I would have, that makes me irate just watching.   Imagine being so entitled you think you own the water.

I get if somebody is climbing on your dock, boat, chunking heavy baits that hit your boat, etc.  That's not happening here, that lady just wanted to own the whole lake to herself.

Whoever that guy is, I'd love to buy him a beer.  Sounds like my kind of person.

LOL so which dock was hers?  The one two houses down or the one she came out from the second time?  Move along Betty...

I personally avoid docks with people present.  Its just not worth a potential confrontation.

That’s why you gotta fish the docks early, before people wake up.

A couple months ago, my buddy threw a spook right between 2 docks and nailed a 2lber. We didn’t even know anybody was on the dock until a guy yelled “Did you just catch that near my dock? I didn’t know there were fish under there!”. He was excited.
He was sitting in a chair at the base of the dock, camouflaged against his retaining wall ?

This is likely the correct policy to have, and certainly mine.   The angler in the video was obeying this policy seemingly, but he didn't account for a Karen staring out her window just looking for something to Karen about lol.

Technically unless she owns all three of those houses, she's trespassing on private property herself.

I'll never forget this event....very easy to imagine when you understand the place he was fishing, and the types of people who inhabit those areas.   Off the grid loner types.

What I find most annoying (I don’t know if that’s the right word), is usually in this situation there is almost a 100% chance that this person won’t call the DEC and say “someone is fishing near or under my dock”, but they will say untruthfully “someone is vandalizing my property with fishing equipment” or something along those lines. They know the legality of it, but will lie to make it seem like they are the victim.

I normally just smile at them and say good morning or good afternoon and just keep on fishing. It annoys the heck out of them. Let them get the high blood pressure instead of me.

This is the best thing to do IMO. You can be the most accurate caster on Earth but the one dock that has people something will go wrong.  Wind gust, wave hits your boat, etc. something always happens. I have only had one small argument with a dock owner in all my years fishing.

Now trout fishermen are a completely different story.

I usually skip docks/piers with people in their yard out of respect, but it's good to know your local laws should a confrontation occur, every state has laws against interfering with lawful fishing and hunting activities, in Wisconsin what the karen did here was technically a misdemeanor violation.

I have never figured out what they are so scared of. I have a dock. So what if there’s a lure or line stuck on it? Then I get a free lure. The hickory nuts are far more hazardous

While I agree with Ike in this instance, he has had his share of etiquette incidents as well.  One on the Potomac where he was prefishing for a tournament and he idled down a grass line graphing it towards a local and effectively blew out the entire spot.  The other was a tournament where he encroached on Kevin VanDam and when confronted, Ike said to him “C’mon man, you know this is a community hole” and Kevin replied, “Yeah, but you ain’t part of the community”. ??

Yeah, so he kind of deserves what he gets, huh? And KVD was soooo mad at him he went to Ike's house to straighten him out...

You have to realize that 95% of the lake shore owners don't fish.  At least the lake shore owners here don't.  You're one of the very few people who has lake shore property/docks AND fishes.  Generally, its one of those demographics versus the other.  Also, a lot of people jump and swim off their dock.  I wouldn't want a hook stuck in one of my feet (kind of like your questionable "buddy").

Slamming hard baits and jigheads into other people's docks, posts, lifts, boats, etc whatever they have down by their dock isn't for me.  I know that a jig or other hard bait can be effective in those situations, but I prefer to use a soft plastic presentation instead so the noise is essentially eliminated.  And as previously stated, if there is a person present on the dock, in the yard, etc, I just avoid that dock completely.  I'm not accurate enough 100% of the time to avoid getting hung up, so in the rare case that it happens, I simply go do it and the owner doesn't have to see it because they aren't there.

I’ve swam off my dock since about 1988, never been hooked. You are much more likely to be hooked while……. Fishing! Haha. They just wanna be jerks is all I can figure. At least they let you know up front that they have a terrible personality

Well, doing a show afterwards isn’t the same as being on the water fishing the heat of the tournament.  I take it you watched the interaction on the water as well?  Put up that link.  Because if you did there’s no questioning that VanDam was heated.  I’m not an Ike hater like some but if you act the fool, you’ll get called out on it.  Like I said, he was right in the situation with the dock owner.

And exactly what does that have to do with the original vid and subject? Nothing at all, eh? This is the second time I've posted a vid with a pro in it where someone here felt the need to chime in with an off topic implication about how this pro really isn't a "good guy", or something to that effect, and even with your disclaimers, that's what you've done. It's called threadcrapping, and personally, I think it's an odd impulse. But hey, you do you. Love and kisses.

Ive only had a few incidents. The one that got me fired up the most was the homeowner down the lake that told me forcefully to leave because his “ grandaughter” fishes there. I was puzzled thinking , what does that have to do with me?  I would have had words with him had I not had my best friends teenage son fishing with me.

You ever get so angry you just keep your mouth shut? Because you know what you say is not going to improve the situation? That was where I was. If he had asked nicely, I wouldn’t have had a problem with it.

So I never said a word, just left , and him still running his mouth.
