So I picked this up at the local swap meet for cheap, freespool is pretty decent, cosmetics are OK, no rust anywhere. Did more research after buying it and it seems to be a very decent reel. Couple of questions, Is this saltwater approved? I am looking at the current Antares and it seems it is saltwter OK. Also this has the honeycomb spool, are 1/8 or 1/16th lures a go on this reel? And as for line, what's your line of choice? Thinking about some 10lb braid with flouro leader. I will use this mostly at bays/jettys but will also use it on fresh water.

I have 4 of these reels that are 12 to 15 years old.  I  do not think it would do very well with weights you mentioned but have never tried them. I use Gamma Copoly 12 & 14 lb test. Baits I I use with them are Johnson Spoons, Chatter baits, Spinner Baits & Buzz Baits. As for Saltwater, they are Aluminum  so I think you be ok as long as you clean them good after every trip. I fish Fresh water only so I have not had them to Saltwater They are excellent reels enjoy it.
