JustBassinThru Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Does anyone use one of these? I know they are made for the hexagonal Ocho, but my question is do they work ok with regular Yamamoto 5" Senkos or is it a PIA? Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 25, 2022 Super User Posted September 25, 2022 I do. Mine isn’t KVD. Quote
Dash Riprock Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I would think it would be much easier getting an Ocho worm to slide into a normal round wacky tool than the other way around. But I don't know that for sure, I've never tried it. Unless I'm missing something this seems like a solution in search of a problem. Quote
ScottW Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I’ve got one made for round baits and it works fine with the ochos as well. Got it on Amazon. Reaction Tackle Wacky Worm Tool Wacky O-Rings Wacky Rigging Plastic Senko Style Worms 2 Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I don't have the KVD brand. I think mine is a BPS brand from Bass Pro and works ok on any brand of stickbaits I have used. I don't typically use the Ocho though to confirm if it fits their octagon shape. Quote

Super User scaleface Posted September 26, 2022 Super User Posted September 26, 2022 Ive never used an o-ring on a worm but dont some people just use half an ink pen which would be free? I wouldnt spend ten dollars on that . 4 Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 Go on eBay or Amazon and find the cheapest nasal speculum you can find. Definitely less than $10 (probably even have something for less than $1). This will allow you to place any size O-ring on any worm and won’t be restricted by the size of the wacky tool. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 26, 2022 Super User Posted September 26, 2022 I have used a Sharpie pen cap for decades. Tom 4 Quote
Super User MickD Posted September 26, 2022 Super User Posted September 26, 2022 another way to do it is with a tiny black cable tie instead of an O ring. No tools except pliers to cut them, holds well, fits any lure. 1 Quote

I like hard plastic better for trailer hooks, I use a hole punch on plastic lids from coffee cans or nuts. 1 Quote

Not really, it was just a simple question as I was thinking of picking one up locally for my son if it worked equally as well. I have one trom TW already. Just thought maybe someone might have one and could answer. Quote
Super User Bankc Posted September 28, 2022 Super User Posted September 28, 2022 I use a plastic "needle" that came with some hollow braid polypropylene rope I bought from a big box hardware store. It was intended to allow you to thread the rope through itself to make loops, but it works just fine for applying o-rings to worms. I throw more Ocho's than anything else, but it's also worked just as well for smooth Senkos and whatever else you have. Nothing magical about a rigid hollow cylinder with a pointy end. Quote
txchaser Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 It'll work fine on an ocho. With that said, these rings work far better than the elastic ones that end up cutting the senko in half. I don't use the hook that comes with it, because I don't need the 1/16 extra weight. They are really easy to rig and I haven't used bands since I got them a few years ago. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lake_Fork_Weedless_Wacky_Hook__Weight_System_2pk/descpage-LFWWHWS.html Quote

James Sandoval Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 I personally use shrink wrap tubing on my wacky setup. Get some tubing, cut off a 1/4 piece. If too small stretch with snips till desired size. Slide over senko till you are comfortable it's centered. Use favorite hook and enjoy 1 Quote
