endless Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 If you're going fishing on an electric only lake, make sure the TM batteries are charged. I was about as far as you can go today on the other side of my lake when I realized that my electronics weren't staying turned on anymore. Rut roh, batteries are dying. Sure enough about a quarter of the way back, no juice.Lake water is fairly cold. Especially when you're swimming while towing the boat back. So please, make sure you charge your batteries. This tip brought to you by my stupidity. I never done the swimming part before but couldn't agree even more about charging your battery and If your on a large lake like the ones I fish always rent an extra battery if you only have one. I have two batteries but one is not strong enough to run my trolling motor so that runs my depth finder. Quote
scrutch Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Eric, you mean to tell me that you swam a mile and NEVER passed another boat willing to help you out? WOW. My grandfather told me once "Son, there's a very fine line between BRAVE and STUPID" (I've crossed that line way too many times myself). Always makes for a good story. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 17, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 17, 2010 There aren't any boats on this lake. It's a private residential community. I think I'm the only person in the last eight months to actually put a boat in the water. Quote

piscicidal Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 You sir, are a brave man. Especially when you factor in the alligators and water moccasins that inhabit these waters... Eric, friends don't let friends tow their boat back with their teeth. Next time, give me a call, man! (Not sure what I would have done, but I'd have thought of something...) Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 19, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 19, 2010 Well, thankfully I don't have gators in my lake. I didn't think about the moccasins though. I have seen a few of those recently. I'll make sure that I call you next time....then you can come over and laugh your butt off at me. Quote

Super User South FLA Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 Eric, Too Funny!!! Tip of day: Never pull on bow line of small boat while occupant(s) of said boat are standing without prior warning, especially if said occupant is family member with a mean streak and is holding his favorite rod and reel combo in their hand. GTrombly Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Here's my tip of the day: don't leave the seat post in with out the seat on it. My father pretty much did a back flip into the middle of the boat when he tripped on it. Quote
