ThatZX14Fella Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 I ordered a Shimano Calcutta Conquest 100 DC from DigiTaka. I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad (if you get those lyrics, you’re awesome) that I’m more broke when I’m employed than I am when I’m unemployed. I can stretch $50 for a month, but $800 is gone in a few days. For the record, all my bills are caught up, and I only have to worry about fuel to get back and forth to work. 10 Quote

My dream reel was a Daiwa TD-Z ito 103M. Found a nice specimen at a decent price and couldn't pass on it. Not near the cost of your dream reel, tho. Congratulations. No doubt you will pass it on to your heirs. 1 Quote

Nice, that deserves one hell of a rod. 2 Quote

Lead Head Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 So... The dreams in which you're buying (new reels) are the best you've ever had? I know it's corny but I just couldn't resist. Nothing wrong with spending your money on yourself. Besides, that's a reel you will probably never wear out and will still hold some significant value years down the road. Congratulations! 2 1 Quote
Maico1 Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 One of my favorite reels the Conquest DC . Congratulations and wish you the best with it..... 4 Quote

Lol it was a drunk purchase yesterday, but I don’t think I’ll have any regrets. Just the sober realization that I spent half of my check on it. Lol 1 1 Quote
Lead Head Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 As @Derek1 said, next paycheck you can go rod shopping... when he left here, the Bait Monkey was muttering something about stopping by the liquor store on his way to AL. 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted September 25, 2022 Super User Posted September 25, 2022 I was wondering when we were going to get a photo - thanks to @Maico1 I would want the 150 for offshore jigging niche, but wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost, so I have a Tica Caiman in the niche, a good match for the JiggingWorld 1-4 oz rod. 2 Quote

Lol Believe me your situation are way better than mine right now. Nope I didn’t even spend half of what you did. I was shopping for parts, saw the last CQ100. Monkey jumped in and clicked “place order” even before I added all the parts in. I had to email them to add all my parts into the same order to save shipping cost. Now the problem is, this is unauthorized purchase from my wife. I’m not sure what I’m gonna do when my wife see that package from Japan and she knows how much that gold thing cost. I’m a dead meat.??? Quote
QED Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 In view of the current exchange rates, if you wish to purchase a Japanese high end reel, now is a good time to proceed. Most of my casting reels are JDM BFS models but I paid close to MSRP, which was the early adopter premium. 1 Quote
mrpao Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 It's a "Mad World" now that we can get JDM tackle for better prices than USDM tackle. Just about all of my last few reel purchases have been from overseas. 1 Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted September 30, 2022 Author Posted September 30, 2022 It arrived yesterday. I just got it out and casted it a few times to see how it does. I definitely have good taste. It casts even better than I expected. 2 Quote

All the JDM tackle sites seem to accept PayPal and it'll distribute the "pain" a little more evenly. Quote

PayPal's exchange rate is usually higher so you'll pay a bit more but it is a little extra protection. Brian. 1 Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 I took it out yesterday and got my first bass on it. It was a small one, maybe a pound, but i at least got hooked into something. The accuracy and distance with a weightless Senko is incredible. I’ll try to get some pictures with it later. I just keep forgetting and I’m not much of a picture taker. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted October 3, 2022 Super User Posted October 3, 2022 not to be "that guy" but. you gotta have a cushion in savings. experts say an 8 month supply of cash, should SHTF. having said that..congrats on your owning your dream rig. i dont even know enough to know what my dream rig even is. right now i only have day dream rigs. 2 Quote
