Fallser Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 For one day, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. There's a creek about 15 minutes from where I live where I can target either smallmouth or largemouth. Nothing big but it can be fun. Longest drive, just got back from a lodge in NE Ontario a couple of weeks ago. I've been making the trip for 38 years, sometimes with friends, sometimes meeting the guy I was going to fish with at the lodge. It's 777 miles from my house to where they pick us up, then another 20 mile boat ride to the lodge. The first year we went up we drove straight through. After that we drove 10 hours or so, grabbed a motel room and did the last two hours the next morning. The longest I ever traveled to fish, was when I was working and had to make a trip to Guam. I stuffed a 4 piece fly rod, some flies and wading shoes in my luggage and got a chance to do some fishing. No bass there, though. Quote
22RangerZ520R Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Around 6hrs is the most I do normally one way. I want to make the haul to Ivie, but it's 16hrs one way... Quote

Motoboss Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Anything within 2 hours is my range, which gives me several lakes and river access. My go to is 15/20 minutes from the house to the parking area but is limited to a shortish wading area. Outside of that it’s 4 hours and that’s not a daily trip I want to make. Quote
Fishing_Rod Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Good Day! Here in SE Arizona there are some distances to travel and occasionally terrain challenges too. The closest lake is roughly 32 miles away but that takes a 50 minute drive if conditions are favorable. Many of the other lakes and parks are usually a two hour transit. Driving up to central AZ (PHX metro) takes over three hours). Some of the remote streams (for small mouth bass) require high clearance 4x4 vehicle capable of moderate to advanced off road capability. So it does take additional time to get there and back. Oh the remote locations have no services (cell phone or other). Additional challenge added to these adventures. Usually for day only trips about 3 to maybe 3.5 hours transit is the reasonable limit as that only leaves you about that same amount of time to fish and then depart for a reasonable return time. Obviously it would be nice not to have that transit burden. However, these are 'adventures' and there are things worth doing. I will admit I do put a lot of mileage on my family truckster goofing off taunting fish. Cheers! Quote
BillP Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I live between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie. Roughly a 30 minute drive to either. Charleston Lake is a 7 hour drive where I vacation. 1 Quote
Kdizzle Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I have three major lakes within 70 miles of me(Truman, LOFTO, and Pomme De Terre), plus two major mississippi river drainages within 30(Gasconade and Osage Fork) so I can get to fish pretty quickly, Yay living in the Ozarks!!!! Quote
