I have a 93 skeeter and the black bumper on the side of the boat is sticking out.  I asked my mechanic if it was a major problem and he said that it wasn't it is from hitting the waves hard and some of the screws are coming out.  He told me to take off the black rubber bumper and move the screws that were poping out over a few inches and fix ones that are loose.  He also told me that it was a tedious work and it would cost around 500. Is that what causes the screws to come out and is that all I have to do to fix the problem.

Thanks,

Jenga

It's a known problem with the older skeeters. just pull the rubber back and run them back in. I have to check mine about once a year. Ususlly it is the ones that are located on both sides about the area where the driver and the passenger sit. You don't have to completely remove the insert. I take a screwdriver, pry it out a little, and tighten the screws. I have not had to tighten mine in a couple of years, but a rough day on the lake will loosen them up in spots.

Enjoy!

You talkin' about the rub rail? Take the screws out and put in some rivets and seal 'em up with some silicone.

I just did mine last weekend. I have to tighten several every few months of rough water. Start with the one that is sticking out, pry the rub rail out with a flat screwdriver and expose several screws. tighten these (I use a cordless drill) and pop the rail back in the channel with your hand or a rubber mallet as you pull more out. It will only take you about 15 min to do the whole boat.
