Bass Fishing in 2040

Hey y’all, 

 

We done been talkin about the way bass fishing used to be. What about where bass fishing is going? What do you think bass fishing will look like in 2040 on some more popular lakes that see higher level tournaments? 
 

Obviously there will be next-level technology out to better envision what is underwater. How are bass going to react, if at all? Is it possible that they will be conditioned to avoid open water and seek out heavier cover? Do you think predictions like these are nonsense? How much has really changed in bass fishing over the past 20 years and is it going to carry forward or change in any way? I’m curious

Fishermen always have and always will change faster than the fish.  As the technology improves we will be better able to locate and identify our target species on sonar.  We will be more efficient at casting to our target species so the bass will see more lures and will be more conditioned to ignore them.  Catch rates will stay about the same.

Ever since Bass fishing has existed, it's been hard to catch Bass.    It doesn't matter what advancements we make, the fish will adapt, and on the macro scale, even evolve over time.  

 

One thing I know about Bass, maybe the only thing......they are extremely unpredictable, and don't adhere to any hard and fast set of rules.      

 

I have a Koi pond.....I can see the fish anytime I want, they will only eat one or two times a day no matter how many times I throw food in there.    You can't make a Bass eat that doesn't want to eat.....Sonar, FFS, underwater camera, whatever.

Been done.  Pro muskie angler on the PMTT mounted 8 units on his rig and blew away the competition so much in late July that they banned live sonar for the remainder of the season.

 

In all seriousness though, I think some bodies of water especially in the west may be completely dried up by then...so no bass fishing there anymore in 2040.

I cant remember where I saw it...or if it was just cool advertising but a pair of glasses that when you looked into the water you saw the topography as it would be in the water where you looked.

 

I'm not really into livescope but I'd spring for that tech...providing I don't need to take a second mortgage on my house

At the end of a hot summer day in 2040, when the sun is almost set, the bugs start coming out, and the entire pond gets quite, the soft blurp, blurp blurp of a Jitterbug will cause a big bass to loose all control, leaping clear of the water, while trying to annihilate the small piece of plastic and metal.  I will instinctively set jerk my rod, sending the lure without a bass attached flying back at me, and I will once again, swear to wait until I feel the weight of the bass before setting the hook.

       In 2040, bass will still be bass, and hopefully, I will still be trying to catch them.

That's probably one of the big ones.  VR glasses that link to your sonar, so you see an overlay of the live sonar image as you look out onto the water.  There will also probably be electronic lures that provide some action, like random twitches, and recorded sounds of actual baitfish.  There will be baitcasters that are impossible to backlash.  And all boats will be electric.  

 

On the professional side, they'll have uniforms made out of flexible OLED's that will display full video advertisements for either of the two remaining corporations in the world, Amazon or Disney-Apple.

in 2040, the spawn could be in December.  hahahha..  and my California fishing license will be $1352.00.  and it will take $2980.00 to fill up a bassboat with fuel.   oh,  nobody on the planet will be able to drive a stick shift or change a tire.

For the majority of us it won't change to much, gas prices will probably be 2 to 4 times higher, electric outboards will be under heavy research and development as companies scramble to master the tech before gasoline either is banned or depleted. 

 

Sonars will be clearer, side and forward imaging will be able to see farther.

 

Some lakes will suffer from higher pressure while others may thrive as we gain a better understanding of fishery management.

 

The new IGFA world record bass will come out of lake baccarac, mexico. it will weight 23lbs 8oz, and people will still be arguing whether or not Dottie is the true record.

Nope, electric outboards. No more gas of any kind, and it will cost you $200 per hour to charge your 27 batteries to run it ?
