I have a warranty claim I submitted on Tuesday. I'll post how it goes in this thread. I will say, I don't think I'll be buying anymore St. Croix rods.

Have yet to hear a thing.

Got this from my claim.

"We currently are experiencing longer than normal delays. A representative will contact you within 2 weeks of your submission."

You haven't gotten to 2 weeks yet.

I seem to get the "We currently are experiencing longer than normal delays" excuse on just about every call I make to any business.

It's the new norm - customer service side of businesses are still down in employees but up in calls/e-mails/etc volume.

My local pharmacy use to have 2-3 techs on duty at all times...now they have one and when the line to pick up prescriptions gets too long, they pull someone from another area to just run a register...usually the manager or asst manager.

Got an email yesterday saying to call them. Got through to CS this morning. They're sending me one of the new Avid Treks at no charge. Of course, the Avid is about $200 less than the Legend Trek it's replacing, but I bought my Legend when they were on clearance. Since they're waving the shipping fee, I'm only out about $50. I will say, I won't be buying any more St. Croix rods in the future.

Wow..that's unfortunate and sucks to hear you're not getting a rod of equal value.

While it took longer than they had said, I was given a lateral move for an equal rod from a discontinued rod so I had a positive experience.

And the rod that broke, broke the first time I used it. Ah, well. You live, you learn.

That does stink the rod broke and the first use. Maybe damaged during freight or a bad blank? Either way I think SC has one of the best warranty services in the industry. Its rare for a company to have 15 yr warranties. Megabass, Kistler, and several others are not even close.

My most recent experience with them was really good with the exception of it taking a about a month to get the replacement after submitting everything online. Someone accidentally stepped on and snapped one of my 7-8 year old LTB rods, and I was pretty happy to only pay $50 for the replacement since it was 100% our fault. GLoomis warranty replacement is more expensive (but faster) and you're sol with Megabass once 3 years have passed. I'm still a fan of St Croix.

I also have (and love) my TFO rods. I had one come broken during shipping and had to warranty it. They have lifetime warranty and they were stellar. Send the section of the rod with the rod description to them (kind of a pain) and they got a replacement back to me very quickly. I'm only trying St. Croix because everyone raves about them, but there is NOTHING wrong with a $99.00 TFO Professional series.

I’ve had to use st croix’s warranty once about a year ago and it was a good deal 25$ for a new rod to Canada

I’ll take that any day I was happy and continue to use their rods

It took around a month. I gave up thinking they weren’t going to call

Depending on stock you can have delays. Right now they are building ice and walleye rods.

My full turn around was 3 weeks on my old legend X.

Croixs upper end rods are fantastic for the dollar and go on sale regularly. TFO never really pulled me in as an enthusiast but folks speak highly of them.

Seen enough reviews on the new mojo inshore to stay away but never had an issues on rods I have owned from them. I noticed a few reviews where people put the bad review on every website they can find (same poster) makes me wonder if they are real or if they are just upset for some reason. Rods are fragile so if they are high sticking, pulling hard on a snag incorrectly, hitting the rod on a locker, or stepping on them they break and then bam...SC gets a bad review.

That's what I thought too until my high end St. Croix broke on its first outing *however* I bought a spare and I'm heading to Ft. Lauderdale next month. Redemption or confirmation? We shall see!

In my experience, travel rods just seem to break more often, just something about the way they're constructed I suppose.

I really don't think they're having breakage issues, but when someone breaks one, regardless if it's they're fault or not, it seems more likely for people to leave negative reviews for a company than good reviews. I guess if someone is happy with a product, they got what they wanted and just go on with their lives, but if they're dissatisfied, everyone needs to hear about it. I have SC rods that are 20 years old and still in service, and those aren't even high end models.

they shouldn't give you a rod that is worth $200 less. even if they cant offer a travel rod, get them to give you a legend elite or something of equal value. they are screwing you over here.

Already received the Avid Trek. Had I paid full price, I'd agree I got screwed. Since I got it on clearance, I'll file it under "life happens".

Last year I broke the tip on a 6' ML Premier, SC replaced it no problem.  Broke the replacement tip about a month ago, they are sending out the new replacement tip for $25 shipping, no complaints from me.

Got to come up with a different way to carry the rods in the canoe before spring..

In my 25 years of using SC rods I have only broken three.  Two were me being stupid (wind blowing the door shut while taking a rod out of the car) and one I have no explanation for (a 68MXF Mojo Bass Wacky Style).  In all three cases SC's CS was very good.  I know for most people it's not possible BUT if you can visit their factory store I think they are more forgiving.  I remember when everything from their AVID line and up came with a LT warranty but too many people ruined it by taking advantage of it with bogus claims.
