I guess maybe there are some benefits to getting older. I'll turn 65 next month.          Once you turn 65, Missouri doesn't require that you have a fishing license. I will need a tag if I go trout fishing this winter, but I think it's around 8 dollars. I've bought a fishing license every year since I think I was 18.                                                      Hard to believe I don't need a fishing license after next month. Hope everyone is ready for October. Sometimes, it can be a great month for fishing.

Rock on!  When I get there I might still buy them (probably not..lol) just because it's such a ridiculously good value for the benefits we receive for that 12 bucks

How stupid is that! Leave it to the Land of 10,000 lakes to screw their fisherman! I'm from there so I know what I speak of!!

Indiana offers a lifetime license once you are 65 and they don't rob you. It costs the same as the normal annual,.. Just no expiration. We just don't have many fish here to use it on!! ?

In January I will be able to buy a senior lifetime for $52. here in PA. So that's what I'm going to do. Getting old.

That’s disgusting….

Same in Pa. Lifetime fishing and hunting license is free at 65.

I’m almost there for the lifetime license.  I have one more year to do a reg. resident. My first year required to have license was 16 yo. I have a box full of all my old fishing and hunting license’s, derby buttons, club buttons. Though cool that I held on to that stuff the ones the guys back in 20’s, 30’s and 40’s had were real nice. Here in PA for quite a few year we had a real trout stamp. Similar to a duck stamp. That got killed many moons ago. I have them.

I bought my Indiana lifetime fishing license 21 years ago (2001) for $175 (20X annual) while I was still in my mid 30s. Yearly licenses were then $8.75,  but were jumping to $14.25 the following year. They were inundated with people deciding to take the leap and buy them like I did. In a typical year, they would sell about $10,000 in lifetime licenses, but that year did over $10 million in sales (all hunting/fishing variations combined). They are currently $23 annually, and I made my money back many, many years ago. We do have a senior/DAV license (>64 years old) for $3 a year, or a senior lifetime for $23. There is also a voluntary senior annual license for $3, for those who want to pay but don't have to (born before 1943).

Bought my first Florida fishing licence when I was 16, stopped buying them when I turned 65.  Ten years of no license so far.  Wonder if I will ever break even?  ?

I hope you do brother. God bless ya.

Florida is free for freshwater and hunting after 65 but you still need a saltwater license if you fish from a boat ( shore fishing is free).

You still need to buy snook & lobster stamps for saltwater and deer, turkey, duck and wildlife management areas for hunting.

I pay $13.50 for a conservation angling resident license in Minnesota every year.  Considering how many times I go fishing between April - October, I think that's an absolute steal.  Honestly I'd be willing to pay five times that amount if they devoted it towards enforcement of game/fish laws and watercraft laws on the lakes.

90 years old is a joke.  What may be even more of a joke is that youth under 16 don't need one.  So they're letting punk ass teenagers fish for free but senior citizens still have to buy one.  That's fu**ed up.

I have a Virginia lifetime for 61-64 year olds. I forget what I paid, but I’d like to think it was probably worth it. Who knows - I might have just bought it so I’d never have to deal with it again. Expires in 2220.

Actually, Missouri is good about license fees. For years it was 10 dollars for a resident fishing permit, then went to 12 dollars. The only special tag is for trout fishing. I've never complained about the cost.

I can understand some states needing the money more than others. It's the age limit that's a problem. 82 and 90 yrs old is wrong IMO.

I agree.  Most of the license fees I pay here in MN are more than reasonable.  I'd be willing to pay a lot more.

Especially when you consider that we don't have ramp fees or parking fees at public ramps because part of our fishing license fee pays those.

When I was a young man, I thought 75 was really really old.  I can remember thinking about the year 2000 in school and calculating I would be 53 years old. Couldn't imagine that!  Now that I'm 75, I look forward to the future.  I'm not as fast as I once was.  I'm not as strong either and my stamina is not as great.  I am a whole lot wiser and that makes up for it.  ?

All of the accesses I use regularly are generally kept in great shape too.  Even in a drought with low water levels.

Congratulations on such a milestone! And Thank goodness you don’t live in WA state. You’d still be paying full price until 70! No joke. You not a senior in their eyes until then. Only at 70 can you take advantage of the “senior” fee for the rest of your life. ?

Washington is a sportsman paradise if you have a thick wallet.

At 64 here in Indiana, a license is only $3. $23 for a lifetime. If you were born before April 1, 1943 (79 years old) you don’t need a license.

I bought my North Carolina lifetime sportsman license ~40 years ago.  (hunting and fishing).  A lifetime sportsman license for someone 65 and older is $16.  (residents only)

I also fish in SC.  My license was $105 for 3 years from date of purchase.  SC residents 64 and over can get a lifetime license for $9.   My youngest Grandson just turned 16 so I had to get him a (SC resident) license.  It was $30 for 3 years.

I guess that's in case you're the Bionic Man, or they grow your head in a jar and you fish using telekinetic powers.

I sure do wish my parents or grandparents would have got me a lifetime license, its currently $320 under the age of 3 then goes up from there. Im 45 and it would cost me $1976 for one now.  Currently for a yearly its $38 and doesnt include trout but does include small game. I also wish TN would do like KY and split hunting and fishing as I dont hunt.

IL has a senior license, and a super senior license. The only free ride is disabled vets.

You moved to IN? Good for you. I'm hoping to get out of IL in about 18 months.

We have one license level - everyone from 16 to 89, with few exceptions pays the same amount for a yearly ($25) or 3-year ($71) license.

Active Military - free - your military ID showing active duty status functions as your fishing license.

Disabled - free - "developmentally disabled or a veteran with 100 percent service-connected disability"

Moved to a small town south of Valparaiso about 18 months ago. Nice, quiet place. Taxes aren’t bad.

Good for you Scott. I talked to you at one of the Schaumburg fishing shows years ago. Don't know if you remember me or not, and it doesn't matter. I'm hoping to get out of IL in the next 18 to 24 months. Probably heading north to Cheesehead land. I will still work in IL but not be stuck with all the taxes.
