Anybody ever try to put some kind of deck on one of those bass raider pontoons ? I saw a picture the other day with a guy standing on one with what looked like a deck on it. Wasn't sure if it was just an advertisement to show how stable they were or not. I have and old one and would love to do this as i really do not like to sit down and fish.

Do you feel like you really need a few more inches of height ? Their already made to stand in. No advantage that I could see. JMHO

Its not really for more height but width. I'm not sure i agree with the "made to stand in " part cause if you've ever been in one clearly they are not made that way. The middle part is very narrow and uncomfortable to stand in for very long. Plus i was thinking i could add some cutouts to the plywood to hold a battery and maybe make a small tackle compartment. But i guess my issue is stability and i would hate to do all that work just to find out it isn't stable enough to do.

I think you should look for some other type of boat. I have the 8' Bass Raider(with a thin plywood floor) and I do not fish standing up. I stand up occasionallly for a minute to stretch my back, but that's it.

I have an 8' Raider and I stand and fish all the time!  I have a piece of 3/4 plywood about 24" long and as wide as the floor with carpet on it to stand on.  It works great, no stability issues, even while swinging for the fences.  Check out this thread for pics and a ton of info on other mods/add ons/ideas for these style boats.  I believe I have some picstures on there of my rig.

You must be one agile guy. What's your day job, tight rope walking?

I am about 5'9" and weigh around 200lbs, I am not too agile, however I do have the balance of a jungle cat.   ;D  Seriously though, these boats are stable, I stand and fish comfortably.  No problems casting or setting the hook.  Have you ever been in one?

No, i said said that i didn't believe that they were made to stand in , which is something you stated. The middle part (for me), is to narrow to stand in for long periods, which is why i want to widen the area for standing by putting a deck across the entire width of the boat. If you read my original post, you will see that i actually want to stand and fish. ;)  Sorry for the confusion.

Yes. I bought my 8 footer back in May. I'm probably just spoiled by my other boat's 48" wide flat bottom.
